I also got to meet them and party a bit with them after the show on warped tour, wonderful group of people I also got to meet the Barry's they were packing shit up I offered to help them in exchange for a couple beers which they waved me on. That day went from being complete shit to being one of the best days of my life right next to getting out of the Army. I got a fucking flat tire on the way there which caused us to tie up traffic it popped in the damn middle of the road and completely backed up traffic for 10 minutes while I changed it. 1 good Samaritan offered to help me after seeing my Army tattoo on my arm and showing me his. What were the odds we were in the same squad at BCT?😂😂😂 I knew I recognized him, he immediately pointed out my monster tattoo on my left arm he said he recognized it I was the only one he's ever known with the unique colors I picked, aqua marine and teal. Anyhow, he helped and we got parking together and were there to see avenged sevenfold and I forget the other bands that were playing the wife really wanted to see a7x so we went and yah dude small world right? So after the show ended zacky asked if I had a lighter his wasn't working so I gave him mine and said I have another he can have it that's a brand new one and then I saw Brian and Matt they started talking to us and Matt saw my Army tattoo and asked about my service. He then asked if we wanted to come have a couple drinks so we happily said he'll yah and the rest is history man.

Funny awkward story that I’ll NEVER live down about Val.... I went to Uproar when I was like 14 and happened to meet Val. Before we left for the concert that day (a nearly six hour drive), I wanted to print out a bunch of pictures just in case I met the band or the girls. In my haste I just randomly printed out the first five or six photos on google images, not really paying attention to what printed. That night we were waiting by the VIP area and I see this blonde woman walking towards the VIP door, and completely taking a shot in the dark I said “Val?”. It just looked like her from the mere glimpse I got for a split second in the dark, and her hair was the same. To my surprise, she turned around and sure enough it was Valary. She’d been walking with a group of girls, and was so gracious to come over and talk to us for like ten minutes despite her friends going back into the VIP area. She was so incredibly sweet. I mean, genuinely. So sweet. I asked for her autograph, and before I’d left home that day I’d googled “M.Shadows and Val” and just randomly clicked print on the first two or three results before the pictures even finished loading, just in case I happened to meet both of them because I was honestly a fan of hers too, and thought she was such a badass (she is). I figured it’d be some cool shots of her on stage with them or something. I hear her go “oh that’s funny!” as I hand her the first photo I happened to grab in my bag with the green paperclip (Matt, and Matt and Val photos)and laugh a little. I look, and notice it’s a photo of her and Matt on the beach. Clearly a personal photo that someone had posted on a Tumblr blog. I was soooo embarrassed. I didn’t want her to think I was some weirdo who was printing out their couple/family pictures but I was so embarrassed I couldn’t say anything. Part of me always wished I’d stumble across Val again and be like “so you probably don’t remember this, but as a kid I randomly printed a bunch of photos off google images as my mom rushed me to get in the car and I didn’t realize one of the results was a picture someone posted on tumblr of you and Matt on the beach”. I felt soooo bad. She thought it was funny but I could tell it was a personal photo, and I think I mumbled “oh..sorry”. And got super quiet. But she signed it, and even asked if she could have one of the photos of Matt I printed because she said that if she saw him and the band before they had to be back to their buses, and she could, she’d try to run a signed photo of him out to me if we were going to hang around the side stage area while Disturbed played. I remember her saying how she thought it was so cool that my mom took me to concerts and it was something we bonded over, and she said how she hoped to do that one day if she ever had kids, but she thought her kid would think Avenged was lame lol. Funny enough she even joked about being really good at doing Matt’s autograph, and then went “oh wait, now that sounds like I’m going to forge it, I won’t don’t worry! If I’m able to come back out it’ll for sure be his, I promise!”, and said how she’d try her hardest to be able to get back out to us to give us the signed photo of Matt. After we said goodbye, she started walking away, got to the doorway that led into this huge white tent if I remember correctly, and then she went “Oh hey! Here!”, ran over to us, reached into her bag, and pulled out guitar picks that had Zacky’s logo on them. That made my whole night and I still have those guitar picks now nearly ten years later. I’d also gotten quite a few guitar picks from Dan and Joey over the years, but those ones from Val are super special to me. I remember being at a friends house and her Bratz commercial would come on and I’d get so excited and they just didn’t get it lol. She is such a wonderful human and I hope one day I’ll get to meet her again at a show and say hello. But anyways, Val if by some chance you ever come across this comment, I’m sorry that happened to be the picture I printed and handed you, and that so many fans didn’t respect your privacy. I genuinely had no idea that one was even in the pile I printed because I just pulled up the google results, left clicked, and hit print before they loaded as I took my suitcases out to the car, came in, grabbed the stack, and left.
