At the moment I prefere autoortho. As map enhancement got updated for me it slowly got worse, the quality was really bad, I had terrain missing and it would spike my cpu usage quite high, causing temperature issues. With autoortho I don't have any of these issues and it works quite well for me :) hope this helps!

No worries :) Yes I have found the imagery with autoortho to be much higher quality than map enhancement. I also get 0 performance impact with autoortho and no stutters at all on my pc.

Since releasing this video I have moved back to AutoOrtho as I was getting to many issues with Map Enhancement. I would suggest trying AutoOrtho or if you have the storage space then regular Ortho4XP

Although I do not like orthophotos (static and not homogenous colors, thus no support for XP12 seasons, solid shadows in mountainous areas etc.) I think I will give this a try. Regarding overlays "X-World" by simheaven could be used.

Just to clarify 1.4 hasn't been released yet, its in development at the moment but is coming soon. And map enhancement doesn't change anything yo do with sounds so yes the environmental sounds will not be changed :)

@@chauncyjohnson947 aha that's great :) at the moment there's a strange issue with autoortho where your downloads for the base packages will pause and give you an error. You can ignore the error, reload autoortho and start the download again. It will eventually finish. I had to restart mine once for the smaller packages and two or 3 times for the larger ones like Asia or NA

The initial versions worked well for me, however as updates came it got worse and worse, hence my switch to autoortho. Additionally the developer has changed the install process again. Unfortunately I don't have unlimited time to test software continuously. When this software came out I did extensive testing, this was however months ago now. Please bare in mind all of this is done completely in my spare time, and for free. I do try my absolute best to test software and addons, however I can't always keep upto date with them as real life gets in the way.

user interface is better, also has multiple sources to choose from, like apple maps, bing maps, google maps, mapbox, arc maps, etc. You also have the ability to colour correct the orthophotos to your preferences and the ability to adjust image quality if you want faster loading times. Overall it has more customisability than autoortho and is a more polished plugin.

I absolutely agree with @the-aviator! It's much more polished, recieves regular updates and the dev is very commited to improving this as much as possible. The additional source options, and the colour correction is great! Given how simple this is to install i would definitely give it a shot :)

Hi there, I believe you will need a proxy for the (pro) servers but not for the free Google maps servers, unfortunately I don't know about proxies but I'm sure the dev could help. For me flying in that area I have found either Bing or Arc looks the best :) Glad you enjoyed the video and I hope this works well for you

Overlays will load automatically as long as you downloaded the base packages. Yes you have to run map enhancement everytime you load X-Plane. Sometimes it can take longer to load, it depends on your Internet speeds, thr map source server speeds and your pc specs.

Just installed it. Looks good but the load times are unbearable. With auto orth it would take about 1-2 minutes. With this, it takes about 5-10. It loads around 70000-110000 files though the manual says 50000 or more is concerning. Do you have any ideas? Thanks

hello, I had this issue as well, I fixed it by moving the install location of my Map Enhancement folder to my internal drive and off of my externally purchased SSD as apparently some external SSDs read the files in a different kind of way. Also try running it as an administrator and/or not having google chrome or discord running in the background.

Yes this is normal. You can try using the fastload option too or try lowering the quality. For me the most recent version (0.9.11) has massively improved the load times but it is also system and Internet speed dependant.

Yes sometimes antivirus software might pick it up as a virus due to an unofficial publishing license as far as I know. It is recommended to add it to a whitelist on your antivirus but it's upto you, whether or not you are comfortable doing that. I have and so far my pc is fine with no detected virus's. (I am not the dev and not associated with the dev in any capacity, although I am in contact with them) :) hope this helps

Yes the install is quite complex however it is completely different now. Personally I have moved back to AutoOrtho and that's what I am recommending at the moment :)

I see what you mean. Unfortunately I do not think we will get ortho streaming natively in XP12 due to licensing. MSFS is lucky to have access to Bing maps for this. If you ever need help installing AutoOrtho then I am more than happy to :)

This application is trash, broke my sim. Now I have to re-install everything, DO NOT USE THIS EVER. And they change the way the application is installed each time? Zero date manipulation. Just run Auto ortho. Delete these videos, Drishal, don't promote this Chinese malware trash.

I have also stopped using the program as it kept requiring reinstalles and just wasn't working well for me after some updates. I ended up moving back to AutoOrtho. Very sorry this broke your sim.

Thanks very much for making this video. I followed your instructions but after that I am getting an error mesg "At least 1 z.ao scenario with .vhd extension should be in the base package folder" Any idea how I can resolve this issue?

Hello, unfortunately the developer has yet again changed the installation process and therefore my installation video is no longer current. regarding the error the best place to get support will be their discord. I have since moved to AutoOrtho as i get better quality and performance
