To the negative You Tube fans, spend your time enjoying the music you like. If you don't like something, just move on. Do you really think trying to convince fans of music THAT OTHERS LIKE is not enjoyable? Music is subjective...duh! Just move on son, just because you are miserable, doesn't mean that you have to be negative. I am here because I dig this band, if you don't, there are other places for you to enjoy yourself! Well, of course if that is even possible in your case! So many bitter trolls on You Tube!

I've only seen them once and it was in Memphis and Jason was still with them then. I remember asking Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood if it was OK with them if I set up my mics and DAT machine and tape the show... they said yeah cool man... talking gear with Jason that night on their break inspired me to buy the same Marshall Amp head JCM 900 ... I still have it today.... nice time talking to him about our college days... he went to Memphis State and I went to Ole Miss..... those was the best of times

Saw them all live twice before Isbell left. Once at the Fillmore in SF when they were so happy to be playing in the historical Fillmore. They are an American band that understand both the musical and social history they are in and come from. Such a great band. Too bad Isbell left (got pushed out?). For a couple of Albums they were the Beatles of Southern Rock, three great songwriters in one band. Absolute joy to watch and wear. The Dirty South is one of the best American rock albums in the last 20 years. Real stories about real people having hard times. Rock on DBT!

Mike Cooley is the George Harrison of southern rock. Change my mind.
@joegibbskins3 жыл бұрын
I don’t know, I always felt Isbell was the Harrison of the Truckers. Great song writer obviously, but had trouble getting on the albums because there were so many Hood and Cooley songs, which would make Hood McCartney, and Cooley Lennon imho
@lr68843 жыл бұрын
@@joegibbskins I see where you're coming from. But, when Isbell joined the band he started getting multiple songs on every record. And after what, decades together, Cooley was still only getting one or two songs in? Maybe it's that he was/is more serious about writing and didn't just crap out the same chords with new lyrics like Hood, who literally wrote the same song over and over on all their records? And don't get me wrong, I love Hood's songs... But many of them are seriously just repetitions.
@joegibbskins3 жыл бұрын
@@lr6884 I remember an interview with Hood about a decade ago where he claimed he writes several hundred songs a year and Cooley writes between 3-7. So I think Hood cranks them out and then chooses what he thinks is best and Cooley only writes something when he feels inspired. Honestly, I like Cooley’s song writing the best of the Truckers including Isbell (post-truckers sober isbell is in another stratosphere both in output and quality).
