Hello Mike, I don’t know you but have enjoyed the driving tour video around Duluth. I see you picked a typical cloudy, overcast dreary day. No point in waiting for the sun to come out. I grew up in Duluth, graduated from Central in 1967, graduated from DAIT in 1969 and after the graduation ceremony, I left for Minneapolis. I couldn’t wait to get out of Duluth. I not sure that I even said goodbye to my parents. Since then I have mellowed and treasure my early years living in Duluth. There’s something about your hometown that remains in your heart and mind. You remember all the good times and forget all the bad. I have been back on several occasions and have driven all the roads on the video and many more all over Minnesota. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to viewing more of your travels.

I tried waiting for a sunny day in Duluth but when it was forecasted it became cloudy:( i’ll try my best to get a sunny clear day but I got to get lucky.

@@vibewithmike Thank you, Mike...would you consider adding narration to your videos; I can almost bet that you'd get more comments, and more thumbs up, if you do! At least for those who are not familiar with the area, Thanks again. PS Are you familiar with the Congdon mansion on London Road? Miss Congdon shot and killed an intruder, in the mid/late 60s. Sadly, she and her private nurse were murdered on June 27, 1977

Amazing video, Mike. I am delighted by the red brick buildings around the downtown. Some of they look like they came from very late 1800s architecture and most of the others looks from rue first decades of 1900s, if I am not wrong. Amazing romanesque buildings here and there, too. I really enjoyed this tour and the city really looks lovely and well maintained. Loving also the small houses, plenty of space and nature, the ride on that beautiful lakeside highway. The ride on the Aerial lift bridge, then, was spectacular. Thank you!

Hands-down the best documentaries I’ve ever watched about Duluth are these two, Lost Duluth 1 & Lost Duluth 2. If you want to learn about the ship canal start at exactly 19:33 in Lost Duluth 1. I have linked these videos below for you. These documentaries tell the whole story of Duluth’s beginning and shipping industry, it’s absolutely fascinating with the photos and videos. @@vibewithmike I watched both of the documentaries and loved them so much. There is so much history and loved the constant ability of standing back fiercely after every slip and always rising from its ashes like the Phoenix! Loving how the city could keep up with the demands of technology despite the challenges of the market, never giving up, adapting to the new market demands based on the available resources without losing its beauty, always reinventing itself, and never forgetting to add something more and something new to make it a place that offered to its citizens a place where people would love to settle down to and where they could thrive. A place that offered not only jobs and opportunities but also that took care of their other needs, taking care of parks and also through an amazing housing project for the workers like Riverside. I love how people are giving value even to the smallest remnants of the city’s past. I always loved when people, especially in the US, respect their ancestors and take care of the heritage they left behind, wether their legacy is small or huge. Thank you, Mike. I really appreciate your enthusiasm about sharing notions and links about a city that you clearly love so much! It is contagious and makes me really want to visit Duluth. I hope that one day someone can bring back the ski jump discipline to this lovely corner of the world, just in honour of the good old days and for forming a new school of athletes. Thank you so so much! 🇺🇸🇮🇹🙏🏻

Old corker, I’m assuming the airbase was on the hill? Don’t they still have an airbase there though? Any cool stories about your time there? I love Duluth.
@oldcorker75133 жыл бұрын
@@vibewithmikeYes, about a mile just past Target. There may still be the air guard base there, not sure. If I recall right, a federal prison was going to be part of the old base. It was a great place for me to work, so when they closed it I quite upset at the time. But, things turned out very well for me out here, so no regrets about leaving. It was also a great place to grow up as a kid, but, I certainly do not miss the bitter winters and crappy roads six months out of the year.

@@vibewithmike Well that is absolutely wonderful to hear, i absolutely love it up there. It's nice to hear that it will be a good time to be there. Honestly my plan for the day is to binge watch all your videos. you are actually really good at capturing a full picture of the area versus a lot of these people who post hour long videos showing the same thing, with you we feel like we learn the areas enough to actually know what to expect. like ive been to Duluth a few times (my girlfriend lives on the range) but i'm trying to convince my family to move up there and this was perfect. Especially watching the scooter tour of canal after, such a great way to showcase what it would be like roaming around as well as driving.
