Drive Shaft Removal

I have replaced the entire suspension front and rear on my 01 MGM GS put new Lincoln tires on and still have a slight vibration. No noise just vibration so next I’m replacing the U-Joint maybe that’s my problem. After replacing everything it helped but didn’t fix it .

12 mm left it in park to break them loose and neutral to spin the shaft for easier bolt access

Did you drain the trans first or no?

As long as the car is flat it won't leak. Most of the fluid is in the pan itself.

What size bolts? My gfs tweeker neighbor parked it in her yard and won't move it. The steering is locked. I m gonna drag it

On my vic the drive shaft is way too big for that kind of clearance to the bolts. You can fit the socket on the bolt but no way in hell are you going to stick anything into that socket. Blocked right off by the shaft, you'll need some 12 point crowfoot wrench set adapters or something. Dunno what's up with your setup. Must be a difference between civilian and police interceptor driveshafts.

This car had both shafts installed and the bolts were the same. The car is an 05 MGM and the Police shaft was from a 99. 98-11 shafts are interchangeable.

@@Dietrich804 I'm thinking the issue I had was that I used a 1/2" 12mm 12 point socket. When I get around to installing my old limited slip rear end on my newer open diff Vic I will try the 3/8th 12mm 12 point socket instead. It is visibly slimmer and smaller, I think this will allow for a lot more room around the bulk of the driveshaft. Wish I could post a pic to show you what I originally meant. Oh well.

SterrShow it is if you have a newer car my Lincoln Town car is a 98 and the bolts won't come off

@@Dumpstermanlp the old bolts are 12 point and this one in the video is the ADTR 6 point bolts.

gonna take mine out and give it a good scrub with some 80 git then 320 grit and paint it black

How do you break the bolts loose

The shaft has to be held by the trans or the brakes. Then use a breaker bar or impact gun. Make sure the vehicle is blocked from rolling.

OK so please tell me where do I get the spacer I have a 2002 mercury I added the p71drivshaft it is a little shorter I need a spacer

I can't get my bolts to break free in my automatic mustang a shop put them back on with a impact gun

Try PB blaster, spray the the bolts and area. Let dry for atleast 10 min. I do it a day before, easier results. But..dry bolts, no slippage. Goodluck

this has the WRONG bolts in it. they will fail & this is dangerous. NOT recommended!

What's wrong with these bolts specifically??? These bolts were replacements because this driveshaft is setup with a spacer behind it. It's shorter than the original driveshaft.
