Finally got to play this. I wish this game and Eclipse would have a baby because they both scratch different itches (or the same itch in some ways, I guess), but neither feels quite 100% what I want.

+TheGreatHamEl Could totally see that. Someone needs to build a mega-4x game that takes parts from Ti3, Eclipse, Forbidden Stars, Empires of the Void, and Exodus.

I really like the tech and exploration in Eclipse, but the combat falls flat for me, which sucks for a game that is mostly combat centric. Forbidden Stars is on the other end of the spectrum, which feels a little bloated. (I really like both games, don't get me wrong.) I just want a space civ / 4x game where industry and politics matter and the combat is streamlined but not some simple d6 fest. That's not asking too much, is it? :D
