Explanation why BMW won drag race is simple - it has dual-clutch . Power is measured at the crank , not at the wheel , so BMW which has least transmision loss is the fastest . Other thing could be better weight distribution - more weight on rear wheels .

If you have ever driven a BMW, you know how precise they feel. The engines run so smoothly that they really dont feel like engines. I believe its what makes then so unique. I think most will agree that the S63 V8 engine is like none out there, same goes for the S65, N54 and N55 i6's

like the Jag especially the interior love the blue stitching something different from other companies always using red sticking,my only kick in the ass is the ugly spoiler whats up with that.BMW engineer unmatched plain and simple love the exterior of the GC M6 beautiful and real elegant I see no imperfection in it.As so the Benz always loved the E63 AMG cars but this year's car that front end looks like the CLA looks out of place to me, love the sound of the car to of the three it sounds badass.I like how the seat belts are white or gray gives a lot of attention to the interior.

Where the M6 scores over the E63 on track is its gearbox, which shifts way faster. The Mercedes 7 speed unit is quite slow in comparison. On road though, and that is these cars' natural environment, the E63 is a bit better than even the very gorgeous M6. Truth told though, all three are cracking motors.

Really love the M6. Actually saw one in a BMW dealer back in September 2012 and I couldn't get over how nice it looked. However I would still choose the E63 because it looks amazing and has a brilliant exhaust note as well.

Dude, the 6.2 engine is pure muscle. Turbo chargers come with parasitic drawbacks. Theres no replacement for displacement. Mercedes have been in the muscle car game a long time, ive drove fast cars, even turbo'd hot hatches and the mercedes 63 is an animal.

I just cant understand why Asian car manufacturers cant make something as sexy and good as the BMW or even Mercedes, or Audi Is it hard to make a car that's not really expensive, has a sexy view from outside, has a nice interior design, doesnt spend too much fuel, and has a good turning?? because its either you buy/lease a BMW, Mercedes, Audi and spend a lot of money on them and on fuel and on maintenance, but get a car that has amazing design outside/inside, great speed, greeeat turning, sexy engine sound and other nice features. or its you buy/lease a Honda/Toyota, spend x5 less money on it and on fuel and on maintenance, but get a car that doesnt look good both inside/outside, doesn't have a great speed and turning, no sexy engine sound etc. so, is there a car brand in the middle? that's nice looking both inside/outside, that doesnt eat too much fuel, has decent turning, doesnt cost too much to lease or maintain?? after all i fuckin love BMW, but i am going to drive at 40-70 km... and the fuel cost/lease and even maintenance are just too expensive on these German brands, yet the Asian brands look completely rubbish to me...even if they had the same performance the design of Toyota/Honda is just awful...so is there a brand in the middle?

Another great video from Chris. I am considering buying an E63 AMG S model and fortnight ago, my dealer kindly loaned me one for a few days. I can vouch for every comment Chris makes - it is crazy fast and I liked it, but if I'm honest, it left me a bit underwhelmed. Its has lots and lots of power, but opportunities to use that on UK roads is rare…this is one long-legged customer and sooner rather than later, you WILL run out of road, as I did. Then there's the sound - Merc makes a lot of this 'Sound With Power' marketing, but the car IS quiet. Sounds great on tick over, but its very quiet as you rev it harder, which is a byproduct of the turbos. What I'm comparing it to is my 2012 C63 AMG owned from new and a turbo engine is never going to be as vocal as a non turbo, so in that respect, the E is nowhere near the same league as the C with its snarly normally aspirated V8. So thats a dilemma - do I go for the 585bhp with its quiet express-train performance but with little opportunity to use it on UK roads, or do I stick with my C63, which at 487bhp, is a bit behind the E, but has more than enough power to enjoy, but also has that frankly incredible drag-racer sound track…….maybe not such a dilemma!

The wing is an option on the Jag, it comes stock with a bit more of a subtle wing. More of a big lip then a wing actually.

I've always loved E63 AMG over the M5 or any equivalent level saloons but this video has made me uncertain now, the M6 GC looks really good.

kookieless 7er is ugly, BMW flagship should be like a Aston Martin Rapide style, 2+2 coupe, because to compete with S class would be difficult, why they follow the style S class (rear lounge seat+fragrance perfume+led interior). BMW is drivers car like a their motto "sheer driving pleasure". backseat comfort? useless, many of BMW owner drive car itself.

From these cars BMW is heavier and has less HP than Mercedes but the winner is BMW because of it's optimally designed engines. BMW forever!!!

You forget that the BMW has a twin-clutch transmission, while the Merc still uses a wet-clutch which may sap more power than the Bimmer's transmission. Once Merc goes to a twin-clutch, it may see better 0-60 times.

These engines put out anywhere between 600-680bhp standard when on a dyno. Bmw underrated the factory numbers a fair bit.

Look up dyno numbers, BMW notoriously lie about BHP numbers. 328i F30 is supposedly making 250HP at the crank but makes 240WHP on the dyno. 335i supposedly makes 300hp but makes 280whp on the dyno. The twin turbo 8 in the M5/6? Well supposed to make 560hp at the crank but in reality makes 530hp at the wheels. Given average drivetrain powerloss is about 18% in RWD cars this shows a huge understatement in actual horsepower at the crank. Realistically that M6 is actually making 625HP at the crank and that combined with the superior transmission explains everything.

Mercedes also underrates their cars. The transmission is definitely a huge factor though. Dual clutch will always beat a standard automatic, even Mercedes weird twin clutch setup, theirs is still a regular automatic not a manual with automated clutches.

They are not "lying". As a matter of fact they are doing the opposite, Given the various conditions i.e. weather, humidity etc they are saying that that is the minimum HP that you will always have no matter what. Asian and US manufacturers sometime exaggerate their numbers, The Germans on the other hand don't.

No the M6 is not making 625 horsepower at the crank.. You also skipped aerodynamics which really comes into it´s own at higher speeds, just when the M6 starts to really get going. 625 horsepower at the crank will get going instantly, not when you are doing 130 mph.

Yeah it's not lying technically, but you don't see every manufacturer doing it. The Germans do it for tax and insurance reasons for customers. Japanese did it for the Gentlemen's agreement in the past. For instance the ATS 4 cyl turbo and F30 328i make more or less the same power at the wheels the ATS is realistically rated for its BHP from the factory.

I dont know why you don't put the M5 Competition Package 575hp, the merc is really the fastest sedan ever, and her must be not compared to M6 GC, this last is for comparing with CLS 63 AMG / AMG S, But E63 AMG S if for M5 CP and XF-RS is almost in the comparing line ;)

When I drove the E63S AMG but with AWD i felt the same thing about the gearbox, too lame, too lazy and a bit under-sophisticated for the car. In that case here I would have taken the absolutly beautiful M6 Gran Coupe. Its simply that astonishing to look at and feels so bravour. Its really like sitting in the 21st century in a BMW, no matter what BMW youre in. IF a CLS had been there, well, i'd choose the CLS. No discussion. Because that is even more beautful and special!

something about M...that magic...can't explain but i cannot imagine paying my cash for AMG or RS. thats just me tho. audi, benz are plenty nice awesome cars. its like...yeah audi and benz are good...but you know what i really want. give me that M all day long. unless something better comes along but i haven't seen one yet.

I'm going to be the outlier here and say I prefer the E63. I just enjoy the brutal design. And the AWD capability the newest one has. That means it's practical! I just wish it has a 6 speed like the M6.
