@@belicosesavageCBD has worked wonders for my debilitating arthritis, but it just cost me at least 6 months of lost wages, plus more money out of my pocket to pay for drug abuse treatment that I obviously don't need. The amount of THC in my system barely even registered, but it's zero tolerance when it comes to DOT. The SAP (perfect name for him) handling my case took all those factors into consideration, but told me that he believes I need to complete a 12 week program before he's "comfortable" with writing a return to duty endorsement letter to the DOT. Of course, I have to pay $115 out of pocket for each weekly class, plus $50 for each urine test that I have to take every two weeks. The DOT is in cahoots with these treatment centers, so that they can bleed every professional driver who takes a hit for THC dry; no matter how small the hit may be. It's such BS and I'm stuck having to make ends meet working delivery apps until I can get back into my career again; all for taking a perfectly safe, non psychoactive cannabis product that is sold over the counter without a prescription. This is an absolute joke! And to top it all off....my arthritis is creeping back because I've had to stop taking CBD.

I wanted to quit drinking so I admitted to my supervisor I was hitting the beers heavy on my off time. I self admitted and went through inpatient PHP and IOP. When my med card was about to go out the examiner made me go to a SAP even though I was not required to. Its kind of a racket and really made me rethink why I would want to work a job in a industry that considered off duty drinking a violation.
@OverTheRoadATSАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like you took a huge step in admitting you wanted to quit and getting the help you needed-that’s something to be proud of. The SAP program can definitely feel complicated, especially when situations like yours come up where off-duty drinking becomes an issue. Unfortunately, in trucking, anything related to substance use, even off-duty, can sometimes trigger requirements based on federal regulations, and the process can feel like a lot. Hopefully, the industry can find a better balance, so drivers who take steps like you did don’t feel penalized for doing the right thing.

My entire career was derailed by a false positive generated by the CBD supplements which my DOCTOR RECOMMENDED for my arthritis. I can't believe I have to go through a treatment program, and I'm going to be out of work a minimum of 6, possibly 12 months. I have spent over $1,200 so far on this "return to work" BS, and I'm not out of the woods yet. You're right, it's a total racket. I have never been a drug user in my entire life, and I'm being treated like a criminal over CBD vitamins. Even though my doctor recommended them, they still count against me because they are an over the counter medicine. If they had been prescribed they wouldn't count. It's all ridiculous and stupid.

According to DOT's rules and regulations regarding urine specimens and out of temp specimen must still be submitted for testing as well as a direct observation sample where they watch me pee. They told my supervisors that I could just come back with new lab orders and it flagged me as a fail and now I'm trying to Sue the hospital and my employer because the hospital did not perform their job responsibilities properly or follow DOT regulations and my employer also did not follow DOT regulations and they should have known that if I left it would be deemed a fail. @OverTheRoadATS4 ай бұрын
It sounds like there might be a mix-up with your test results. If the lab has confirmed no positive test in your records and nothing is showing in your clearinghouse even after four months, you should technically be clear to drive. However, I'd recommend double-checking with your employer or the relevant DOT office to ensure all records are accurate and up-to-date. It's always best to have everything confirmed officially to avoid any future issues on the road.

Anybody know any companies who hire drivers who failed a dot in the past?
@OverTheRoadATS Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Failing a DOT drug test can create challenges in finding employment as a driver. However, there is hope through the Substance Abuse Professional program. Completing the SAP program is often a good step in the process of regaining eligibility for driving positions. Many companies may consider applicants who have successfully completed the SAP program and have taken necessary steps to ensure their adherence to safety regulations. It's essential to be transparent about your experience and highlight the positive changes you've made. Best of luck in your search.

Yes, your positive DOT drug test result will likely be in the Clearinghouse, and new employers, even for non-driving roles, can access this information. Be transparent with your new employer about the positive result, as it may impact your employment.

How long is the sap program before I can get my cdl license back ?
@OverTheRoadATS9 ай бұрын
The length of the SAP program varies, and the waiting period before regaining your CDL license depends on regulatory requirements. After completing the SAP program, there's a mandatory waiting period, typically ranging from a few months to a year. Staying in contact with the licensing authorities will help you understand the specific timeline for your situation.

What if I just have a commercial learners permit? And I apppied and I might fail?
@OverTheRoadATS Жыл бұрын
Hey there! It's great that you're reaching out with your concerns about the DOT drug test and the SAP program. It's important to remember that each situation can be unique, but I'll do my best to offer some general guidance. If you have a commercial learner's permit (CLP) and are worried about potentially failing a DOT drug test, the first thing you should do is stay calm. Failing a drug test doesn't necessarily mean the end of your commercial driving career. The next step would be to contact your employer or the company you applied to and let them know about your situation. They might have their own policies and procedures to follow in such cases. Honesty is key here, as it's better to be upfront about any issues. In many cases, if you do fail a DOT drug test, you may be required to complete a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) program as part of the process to regain eligibility for your commercial driver's license. The SAP program is designed to help individuals overcome substance abuse issues and get back on track. Remember, everyone makes mistakes, and what's important is how you handle the situation and take steps to address it. Your willingness to comply with the necessary steps, like the SAP program, can demonstrate your commitment to safety and responsibility. Always consult with your employer, a qualified SAP, or the relevant authorities for specific guidance tailored to your situation. Best of luck, and I hope things work out for you! 🚚👍
