“Take the alcoholic prep pad” …Who knew prep pads could have a problem 😂

Noticed that my lowered 2019 was spitting dirt and rocks all over behind the wheel and while searching for a solution came across Mega chips, wanted more info and your video was super helpful along with the links for the longer push type pin, thank you for your contribution to the great Miata community, it is appreciated! both these parts are on their way to me now.

I like this idea, I found they make it for the Toyota/Subaru FRS/BRZ, great idea, as I replaced the skinny wheels/tire setup with much wider- result =rock chips. Similar to mud flaps but not so ugly

I'm glad to see you actually drive your car! Too many garage queen mx-5s out there. I just picked up a set of these to help with road debris this coming winter. I'm gonna daily mine year-round, in Minnesota no less.

Thanks Ian, I guess I'm really old, we called them mud flaps back in the day. I remember putting them on all my cars back then. I installed PPF on the rear fender behind the tires. I also added PPF to the lower rocker panels. Keep the videos coming!
@DriveMX52 жыл бұрын
Haha they’re essentially the same thing! I think this company went with the term chip guards to try and shift the brand/product image. I wish I would have gotten PPF when I got my car new, that was a mistake. Oh well, learned my lesson for next time. Thank you so much for watching!

Is there a specified size for that longer pop rivet. Want to order a kit but make sure I get the one that will fit it.
@DriveMX52 жыл бұрын
I can measure it and get back to you. I believe that Megachip Solutions is going to start including the right pop rivet for those that have the appearance package, although I’m not sure when that is going to take effect. If you do not have the appearance package, then all of the pop rivets can be reused. Here’s the link to the ones I got that worked: www.autozone.com/screws-pins-and-clips/spoiler-clip/p/needa-parts-molding-clip-466150/848354_0_0

@DriveMX-5 thank you so much. Ordered a set of mudflaps and will go to auto zone today to grab these. Tired of cleaning my sidesills after every drive and hoping these will help protect my soul red paint. Now i may be able to look into wheel spacers without fear of more damage.

Hope you see this , where or how did you get the orange line on your OEM aero kit? Did you do it yourself?

@@RikhilBhavinShah it was DIY. I bought vinyl pinstriping from Amazon. I used 1/8” but would do 1/4” next time to stand out more

@@DriveMX5 do you have a link? Would love to do this! Also which steering wheel did you have? The zymexx website has a few different options on the link you had in your other video

@@RikhilBhavinShah it was the Yokohama model. I updated the description of the video and the link should take you directly to the correct one. @@DriveMX5thanks for replying man. I assume it was the first variant the link leads to rather than the 20 or 30 or 30k variants?

Ahh, it was the -30 variant. I feel like that drop down menu is new since I last visited the site. Looks like the options just change the stitching and 12 o’clock stripe color. I got mine without the stripe though, I think they had one that was a mistake or something and I got it that way

I was planning to eliminate the rear OEM flaps 😅 with the car stock from behind it seems it has a miniskirt 🤣
@DriveMX52 жыл бұрын
Haha these will make it look even more like a miniskirt! But with extra functionality... Megachip Solutions is working on a Gen 2 for this kit and I plan on producing some content as that becomes available.
@Moriggia2 жыл бұрын
@@DriveMX5 thanks, if i lived in USA i would do the same mods as yours but here in Europe it's a bit different, here it's easier to buy H&R sway bars I think, Ohlins is available at 2500€ more or less with 10kg front and 4kg rear and we have also Meister with 10 front and 4.5 rear, what would you chose? Those numbers scare me ahah original springs are something like 2.7 and 1.7.
@DriveMX52 жыл бұрын
@@Moriggia I have Ohlins with 10k/4k springs and I love them for fast road and track use, but they are ROUGH on normal bumpy roads, especially where I live. I think they need to be rebuilt. Instead, I ordered MeisterR GT1 with 7k/4.5k springs. They should arrive by the end of the week and I’ll let you know once I get them on! I’ll be making some videos out of them too

Do they help with dirty water splash up?
@DriveMX52 жыл бұрын
I think they do help with that. I haven’t had to scrub the area right behind the wheels as much since installing them, and they recently updated the design to make it work better, especially on cars that have the appearance package like mine
@TyberZ52 Жыл бұрын
@@DriveMX5 did you notice dirt splashes on the door before you installed (and after)? I just put on some wider ( +38 vs stock +45 offset, same 7" width) and the whole side of the doors are getting PAINTED with mud! :(
@DriveMX5 Жыл бұрын
@@TyberZ52 oh yeah, I used to get those! These really made a noticeable difference in the amount of dirt splashing up. I used to have to scrub and scrub at those areas behind the wheels (I never washed the car as much as I should have) and after installing the chip guards, sure some dirt would get there but nothing like before. As easy to clean as the rest of the car
@olavzwarteveen52462 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but I find them cheap looking and a typical after market mod not improving appearance of the car. They may well be functional though, but I do have my doubt about the sticky tape mounting. A quick detailer wipe down of the mud guard and a small paper with alcohol to make them stick? Really?
@DriveMX52 жыл бұрын
The material is quite rugged, does not feel cheap at all. And the sticky tape holds well! 3 months, lots of miles and car washes later and they hold like I put them on yesterday.

@@DriveMX5 While tonigarcia was a little harsh, I must agree that the final result is very unattractive. You wind up with two little guards behind the wheel, when it should be one; it just looks goofy. Someone should come up with a single guard that's a little larger than the factory one.
