FYI I was able to do this whole job without needing to jack the car or take the wheels off. My car is at stock height with stock bbs wheels. I turned the steering wheel to get access for the fronts and the rears were a PITA but I managed even with big hands and fat fingers. I only took the 2 Philips & 1 pop rivet by the rear marker. You will need a stubby Phillips head or a 90 degree drill attachment though.

oh snap. i thought you guys were going smoked for the side leds. but it looks great with the clear too. im going to install clear on my white rf today. watching the video to prepare
@DriveMX52 жыл бұрын
I went smoked for my car because the dark and orange contrast looks awesome. She chose to go with the clear ones for the contrast against her darker paint color. Can't go wrong with either. Thanks for watching, good luck with the install! These are relatively easy

Helpful video. How did you jack up the car on one side as the jack point pinch welds would have to be used when jacking up the front and then the rear? Did you jack in the center of the pinch weld?
@DriveMX5Ай бұрын
@@tread-well5667 thank you! Yes, I used the center of the pinch weld as the jacking point. I’ve done that many times on this car and others without issue. I always go slowly and have not caused any damage to the pinch welds by doing it this way.

For the sequential turn signal, there is absolutely no need to open the inner fender. Press the light to the right and pull. Voila!

Hmm, idk why I never thought to try that. Thanks for pointing it out!

super helpful video!! Are these lights always on? or only if the headlights are on?

Thank you! They only turn on with the switch in parking or headlight on position

Hey mate, nice work. My mx5 nd is coming without the side marker and even the connector of the side marker, but I still want to upgrade it, so I need to wire the connector first. May I know what's the logic of the side marker? Based on your video, I guess for the front one, it will be on when the headlight is on and won't flash with the turning light. For the back one, it also keep on when the headlight is on and both front and back are off in the daytime when the headlight is off. Am I right? I have seen some videos that people may connect the side marker to the turning lights, so both front and back side markers will flash when the turning light is on, but they cannot keep it always on.
@DriveMX52 жыл бұрын
You are correct in their operation. On when the lights are on, but they don’t flash with the turn signals. Best of luck retrofitting them to your car!
@MelMiata2 жыл бұрын
@@DriveMX5 Thanks mate, I think I have got a plan in my mind to wire the connector. The front one should be connected to day l ight (because I have installed the RDL from mx5things) and the back one should be connected to the plate light, and this will match the logic. Will also try to connect the tunring light.

Ian- have you tried installing this kit or sequential rear turn signals on your 30AE MX-5 with the LASFIT front turn signal LEDs? Just wondering about avoiding hyper flash and how I can avoid it. Thank you.
@DriveMX52 жыл бұрын
Yes, I swapped all incandescent bulbs to LEDs on my 30AE. Lasfit front turn signals with the Flyin' Miata sequential rear and side turn signals and markers. No issues for me with hyper flash

I heard there was a possibility of hyper flash when I installed my sequential side turn signals so I purchased the rear light unit harness with ballast resistors from MX-5 things. Easy to install.

Thanks to you I did the lasfit led bulbs a few months ago and love'em. Much better visibility and modern looks. Unrelated, do you have any further insights on your progress springs? I've been sitting on the decision of which springs to go for and whether that and a sway bar is worth it over time.
@DriveMX53 жыл бұрын
I think for the price they are good. But if you plan on doing track days or auto crossing, you’ll probably want better shocks and higher rate springs. Sway bars are a great additive to tame some of the incredible body roll the car has and most are adjustable to give you more levels of control, handling, and feeling based on your preferences. Glad you love the LASFIT bulbs! I’ve had mine for quite some time and they still work flawlessly and I get lots of compliments on them.
