@@MariusRobertsProductions I expected it to be a good but it was way better. Goes 'lekker' for what it is. I won't my miss my Suzuki Swift Sport turbo too much if I trade in. I hated the digital clocks but I guess I am out of touch with times. Clocks and needles for me 🙈. I am watching your video on the 8 Pro now. Got a test drive in that one on Tuesday. The German, Japanese, American and Korean (and whoever I left out) brands should be slightly worried.

The French have always offered it here - comprehensive spec - but our consumers foolishly like paying for options not understanding that those extras are not reflected in the resale value of the car! The book value is based on the list price, not price after extras, so you get a massive hiding when you sell down the line. I’ve seen brands like Audi & VW changing their offerings now to include more kit as standard. It’s taken them awhile to get the subtleties of car manufacture right, but now the Chinese are coming and coming hard with really good all round products. Thanks for the comments and feedback

I own a Renault Kadjar and I see quite a styling queues from it on this car. Side view, specifically lower part of the of the doors. The rear lights on the outer parts, and definitely the instrumentation panel. It looks almost identical! Great price and value though. The Chinese seem to all use the same 1.5 liter engine in their mid size SUV's across their brands. Haval's engine is also 1.5 and also not very frugal. Once the Chinese step up their engine game, I'd definitely have a second look.

I have a Renault kiger 1.0 no turbo it has 56 kw and 92nm of torque compared to this car which is around 110kw and 220nm of torque. Had a test drive and was blown away. Turns out even if we upgraded to the turbo Renault kiger the max would've been 76kw still way lower then the chery

Short trips to the local mall are a killer, fuel consumption wise - I average about 9 - 11L\100 but I took a trip to Nelspruit and averaged about 7L\100 and I have a rather heavy foot. The cruise control is a bit aggressive with the CVT but that is about my only issue. It is very hard to justify spending money on an upmarket brand.

Thanks for the message and comments. To be honest, those systems all pretty much function in the same way so it’s not really that informative - if it has it i mention it and if it doesn’t work well I mention it. Showing these systems visually is also very difficult, so if the manufacturer has their animated visuals demonstrating the systems, then I would do something with that. The Europeans have good content in this regard. But I really hate someone blabbering on about something if they can’t support it with visuals.

I think what is cool is to see it in adaptive cruise mode or with the lane keep assist like from within the cabin and then just mentioning that it responds well, or doesn't lurch or do anything weird. Because watching the video (not this one specifically) but one might think the reviewer didn't test or use it at all so maybe it doesn't even work well. Just my feedback. 😊

As people start feeling the financial pinch even more, they going to widen their purchasing horizons, start looking at vehicles spec for spec and realise they have been ripped off for too long with many of the established brands. Its taken the Chinese awhile to get to the point where they are worth considering, but I genuinely do believe they have reached that point now, especially in terms of the build and ride refinement...fuel efficiencies of their engines still needs work! I had to rewind to see when the car opened by proximity. Discreet and so customer centralised in design. Starting the car before you get into it ? Common Chery 🔥 First time viewer and I think the review is even better 😎. Highlight of the review ( 08:44) is getting the best out of the roaches 😅 Just because nobody else mentions the driving mode customisation like using sports mode steering while in eco mode, common Chery 🔥, then the advice to use sports mode steering for better feel is why i’m a +1 subscriber who’s +2 ?

@@MariusRobertsProductions Unfortunately Chery gave me a R400k evaluation on a Haval 2022 H6 Super Lux with R50k non structural damage. I really went in for the Tiggo 4 Pro Elite and they basically told me to get lost with my car. Kia even offered near R100k more than that. So disappointed. If you know someone that could come up with a better evaluation please let me know before I go buy a Kia.

The non turbo CVT might be the pick of the bunch for me. It competes pricewise directly with the Brezza and Magnite but it is a better car. And most importantly the fuel consumption should be reasonable

I did take it for a short drive around the neighbourhood because I had serious concerns that the CVT wouldn't work well without the additional torque offered by the turbo. It actually wasn't too bad - the whine and driving on the end of a rubber band feeling is certainly more noticeable because its down on output. That was down at the coast so its only going to get worse when you up at altitude in Gauteng. I would opt for the turbo purely from a driveability perspective but price and consumption will be more important for other consumers.

I hear you - guess you need to actually do the calculations on what fuel costs will be projected over a year at 10.5l per km versus other cars on your shopping list. Whatever their claimed consumption figure is, add 2l per 100 to that for a realistic, real world figure. Then look at list price between the two spec for spec and see what that price difference is...

I think it’s important to consider value proposition versus actual running costs. On average similar cars would realistically give you around the 8l per 100km fuel consumption (normal daily commute in the city) and the Tiggo4 around 10l per 100km . What would it cost you to purchase a similar car with the same spec and features? R80 - R100k more? You see where I am going with this? Obviously another thing to consider is resale value - it’s important to some people although I don’t put much value to it. New brand in SA - what values will we see in 2 years time? Only time will tell

I love that C5 - great car and such a comfortable drive! Its also the only car in the segment that has 3 individual seats in the rear. The boot isn't the worst by a long shot when looking at whats out there - like I said in my review, they opted for better rear passenger comfort BUT a sliding rear bench like in the T-Cross would have been the answer - bigger boot or more legroom as you need it!

I honestly find this 'trading in' discussion rather funny. Are you based in South Africa? Have you checked your resale values on your BMW / Merc / Audi lately? You can't give them away which is why they have come up with their Guaranteed Buyback schemes AND why Motorplan was such an important thing for them back then because once you are in the brand, its easier to keep you. So your dreadful resale values are hidden in the next deal you do... That why I have always suggested to my mates looking to buy a second hand car, pretend that you are the one trying to sell that exact car you are looking to buy and call the relevant dealership and ask them what they will give NOT on a trade in but a clean buy - then you will start to understand resale values! I have never owned a new car - what for? Happy to let someone else take the hit while I get the full spec without paying for it or losing on it (options are not included as part of your cars book value) but I have actually recommended the Chery to a few people because of the incredible value for money it offers and that is something consumers are looking for more and more. Take a look around you and see how many Haval's / Datsun Go's / Nissan Magnites you see cruising around compared with your 'established' brands. Its not a perfect car - the fuel consumption is a real concern and one which I am sure they are working on - its an issue with all Chinese small turbo engines - but take away the badge and compare products in a back to back test drive and compare spec for spec, and you'd also be recommending it.

Thank you so much for your feedback! Look, as a Suzuki owner you know that very few (if any) manufacturer can match them when it comes to fuel consumption. The move from natural aspirated to small turbo provides so many benefits BUT fuel consumption isn't one of them even though this is what the manufacturers will claim! You really have to drive them so carefully - like an economy run - to get the fuel performance out of them. So yes, even though the consumption isn't fantastic on the Tiggo 4, chat to owners of other cars in the segment and their real world returns wont be anywhere near the manufacturer claims. I was never a fan of the Vitara until they brought it out with the turbo - transformed that car - so it will be super easy to stay with the brand you know BUT it cant match the Chery in terms of specification. My other suggestion would be the Peugeot 2008 - that before the Opel (same car essentially but chalk and cheese) or the Kia Seltos Diesel but the Peugeot would probably be my first pick in this segment... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mH3GhXWprcukrJI Awesome to have so much choice hey...

Yeah thats my one drawback for the car. That fuel economy is way too high for a 1.5 turbo with cvt gearbox. I just saw a review of a mazda bakkie that got the same and it was a 3.0 diesel. And is much much bigger

Bought mine. Within 3 months the hooter stopped working. By 18 000 km the braking system started to malfunction and later the shock broke. The car has been into service for the past two weeks now as I type this. I wouldn't advice anyone to buy it.

Sorry what ‘terrible audio over dubbing’ are you referring to? Fuel consumption is definitely the biggest downfall across their entire model lineup and it’s very well documented. They fact that they don’t even list a claimed figure is also unusual. I would have liked to spend more than 2 days with the car to cover fuel consumption accurately BUT it’s also such a vague thing because driving styles and conditions play a massive role in that. Also, when driving for shooting purposes, it’s short bursts / stop start driving so nowhere near ideal conditions to test fuel figures. This is why in my reviews I would usually listed the claimed figures in the price board - it states unlisted in this case and I mention that fuel consumption is not great! I was getting between 9.0 and 11.5l per 100 which seems pretty standard - it does improve after the engine has done some mileage. Interesting to note, if you have watched my content over the years, I am not a fan of manufacturers pushing the fuel saving benefits of small capacity turbo’s - on paper sure, but in the real world their claimed figures never come close to reality so just before of people comparing claimed (other brands) with actual (Chery)

Like I said in the review, 3600km and no squeaks or rattles AND that is very seldom the case even with the well established brand. Its a weird thing with the badge - some people may not even notice it as its just the C that is positioned differently yet the Tiggo 4 Pro badge is spot on. And its like that on all the units so its placed like that purposefully
