Does anyone else get bummed out when you're searching for a instructional install video with your bike but Mr. Van and the STG gang haven't made one yet? I know I do. To be able to relay the amount of information without making the listener feel less than; and to do so in a way that keeps it all very interesting and easy to watch, that takes talent, the man has got a gift. He's must some sort of teaching degree or at very least have some sort of teaching experience. Hell, he's better than alot of my teachers my Senior year at highschool, not even kidding.

Great instructional video! I'm going to replace the grips on my GSXR now :) Edit: I just got my old grips off using the same method. No problem and no damage to the old grips what so ever.

I ordered these D-Axis and looks amazing!! I installed it on a 14' GSXR1000 and looks really cool but it was a pain in the ass to install the throttle grip. I had to cut the edge plastic on the bottom of the throttle tube, otherwise it won´t fit. No glue needed though, the GSXR throttle tube has some shapes that holds to the grip. Just put a little bit of grip glue at the end of it.

On the two bolts that you loosened to let the throttle tube slide outwards there is a little dowel sort of pin on one piece, when I loosened them I moved a bit too much and it broke. Made sure to put the two bolts back on nice and tight think it will be okay? The little dowel that broke off was so tiny and I could barely see what broke.
@sportbiketrackgear5 жыл бұрын
Ideally it should be there. That said as long as the throttle does not move on the bar when you have the bolts tight you should be good to go. If the throttle is slipping on the bars you need to sort that out before riding the bike. Never ride with any throttle issues. The throttle has to be 100% perfect. - Van

Tightened all the screws down and the throttle tube is just how it was before. Went riding for an hour the other day and had no issues.

Yo Brian, I ride a 636. I wanna change the grips to something more gel-like and grippy, but I don’t wanna something where I feel like I gotta squeeze the grips. Just a more responsive feel in my gloves for some aggressive street riding. What are your recommended grips? Or should I just order 3-4 and feel them out?

The Domino MotoGP Grips are pretty cool. Max and I both have them on our race bikes now. Here is a link to them on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/domino-motogp-grips/ If you want a thicker grip give the Driven Superbike Grips. Hey Van, i was wondering your expert opinion on what grips would best suit my needs as their are not many videos that tackle this topic. I ride a 2012 Zx-6r and am still currently running the factory grips. As i am starting to get comfortable on the bike i have upped my riding time to about an hour in the cockpit on my days off. Towards the end of my ride I’ve been experiencing some severe hand numbness. I have adjusted my grip strength and riding position, to achieve minimal gain. Ride this bike mainly on the street with some light spirited riding on the freeway. What do you recommend to remedy? To the extreme i have contemplated raised aftermarket clipons to alleviate downward pressure. Let me know what you think.

I would suggest giving the Driven Superbike Grips a shot. These are thicker than the OEM grips and help to manage vibration. Here is a link to them on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/driven-superbike-grips-open-end/

Could you do a Speedo Healer install for the R6? I'm struggling to find the speed sensor coupler
@sportbiketrackgear6 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure the speed sensor connector is on top of the engine case and is blue in color. You should find this behind the cylinder head by the gearbox. I will go into the shop and take a look at the R6 when I get a chance. Not sure we will be installing one on the R6 but we did do one on the R3 last year. Here is a link to that video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGPMoJx-i5d-rsU The location and connector should be the same for the R6. - Brian Van
@sportbiketrackgear6 жыл бұрын
Installing a Speedo Healer on the Yamaha R6 from 2006-2016 will be plug an play using the speed sensor connector as shown in this video. For the 2017-2018 R6 Yamaha uses the wheel speed sensors as the speed sensor input. With the 17-18 model changing gearing will not make the speedometer anymore inaccurate than it was from the factory which reduces the need to install a speedo healer on this model. The only reason to install one would be if the speedometer was found to be inaccurate or you changed the tire size. Installation on the 17-18 R6 is not going to be plug and play as far as I can tell because there is no speed sensor on the gear box. - Brian Van

Any idea how these compare to the D3 grips?
@sportbiketrackgear6 жыл бұрын
The grip is pretty similar in terms of thickness. The D Axis have smaller metal inserts which means there is more grip to grab on to. This would be the biggest difference between the 2 models. - Brian Van
