Tim, thank you another of your beautiful journeys. Today you showed me aspects and views of that line, I have never seen before, such as @05:26 'Llangollen Goods Junction signal box' & @20:55, around Deeside Halt. Also, the position & quality of your external camera illustrated the temerity of the original builders in planning and threading that line through such lush, but demanding countryside. Well done is also due to those whose more recent volunteers and preservationists, whose labours have maintained the line & infrastructure.

some of my most remembered events from my early childhood were train journeys, normally to the coast, or just standing on a bridge as the train passed under it. the sounds that the rails made, and the smell of the smoke. in some ways the train was cleaner and less polluting, than the thousands of cars, that have replaced them. even electric trains produce toxic waste. sometimes newer isn't better
@Timsvideochannel1 Жыл бұрын
They are lovely memories to have, I lived most of my life near various railway lines along England's South Coast, I use to drop off to sleep to the sound of trains being remarshalled at Chichester goods yard, most of the yard has been lifted now, the sound of fly shunted waggons banging into the rest of the train and loose couple freight trains starting are just childhood memories. Today’s environmentally conscious youngsters seem to be unaware that most of what they see emitted from a steam locomotive chimney is harmless steam. Happy memories 😊.

Hi, the guys at the Llangollen Railway have done an wonderful job in returning steam trains to Corwen. Has Deeside Halt been permanently closed, I see the passing line has been removed! Where do trains pass now?
@Timsvideochannel1 Жыл бұрын
Hi, Deeside was a run round loop when the railway terminated there, it remained a passing loop after the line was extended to Carrog, when the line was extended to Corwen with passing places at Carrog and Glyndyfrdwy the passing loop was no longer required and has now been partially removed.
@2nd3rd1st Жыл бұрын
So I've looked on Google maps and the section after Carrog didn't exist before 2022, and it looks like they only just restored the tracks and train station at Corwen, is that right? Are there plans to go even further south-west along the original tracks toward Cynwyd or even all the way to Bala?
@Timsvideochannel1 Жыл бұрын
Hi, the extension from Carrog to Corwen is a recent addition to the line allowing trains to run for 10 miles through the scenic Dee Valley connecting Llangollen to Corwen. At one time there was talk of further extensions towards the mainline network at Ruabon, but I think any such plans have been shelved, as for Bala, whilst it's something many would love to see, I don't think it's a practical proposition at the moment, the railway's main objective is to consolidate on its current achievements and make sure it secures it's future for the next generation to enjoy.
