Thank you Tim for another very high quality video! I certainly was not bothered by the position of the camera!. One thing alarmed me! Only five days ago I used Andermatt station, changing out of a train from Disentis on to a train going to Brig (via Realp and the Furka Base Tunnel). Andermatt station has been recently very extensively modernised. However to get to track four (from which the hourly Taktfahrplan trains to Brig depart) passengers still have to cross track three! At 12m 30s your video depicts the dangers of this anachronistic situation. Switzerland is famous for the efficiency of its railways - so what a pity this part of Andermatt station was not rebuilt!

Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the video, it was a railway I'd often seen from other trains and from the road, but I'd never had a reason to travel over it. It is a remarkable railway, traversing very difficult terrain. To me the situation at 12:30 is alarming, I live in the UK where crossing the tracks is either by bridge or subway, in the few places where people can cross the tracks on the level, there are interlocked gates protecting the crossing or it is manned. Some of the stations between Zermat and Brig have a single Island platform with the rails along both sides. It is quite frightening to step onto the narrow platform from a stopping train as a non-stop Glacier Express train passes through at speed.

Tim, another idiosyncratic, individual saga. Atmospheric and informative, as always. I liked the main camera position, with the ‘peephole’ aspect, especially with glimpses of the driver. The ‘cut aways’ to alternative shots amplified the sensation of ‘being there’. Thank you for sharing more of your travels. It is good to see you have broken free of the previous pandemic restrictions. Hello Peter, it was wonderful to break free again and I can't think of a better way to celebrate than riding Switzerland's wonderful railways. Rules have been tightened a little on some Swiss railways, although the driver was unable to let me place a camera in the cab, he did raise the blinds to give me a clear forward view of the railway, including the driver and the inside of his cab. Hello Hans, I wasn't sure how this video would go down because I was unable to fix the camera in the front window or to the front of the train, although the driver was kind enough to raise the blind so that I could still shoot a forward view. The Schöllenen Gorge must have proved a real challege to construct a railway through. Cheers. Tim.

Another great video, Tim, despite the somewhat obstructed view from that cabin. It had a strange effect - I found my eyes were drawn entirely to the small middle window, and I was unable to focus on the whole picture. Still very enjoyable, and I look forward to the steam railway.

It's hard to tell, when the train is on a cog section I believe the cog is used for both braking and driving. I guess braking on conventional track is via the wheels, so it is possible that the sound you can hear is a wheel flat.
