In this video we talk all things shaft tipping, what it is, what it does, how it works, and then we do a blind test on the GC Quad to see if we can actually see any difference in ball flight...

Really enjoyed the video. Don't worry about them being too long. Those that are genuinely interested will want more info and data, not less. Those with a two minute attention span are not your audience. Keep up it!

Awesome video! I just ordered the blue tr to pair with my stealth plus, coming down from a ventus black 6x i was wondering wether if i should tip it or not. Thanks a lot for the video!

Thanks Chuck! Yeah it's up and down 😅 I was speed training a while ago and could be in the 120s and get up to mid 120s. Now I can't, but happy around 115 tbh. Just need to learn to hit it straight 😅😅

I am absolutely loving your content! I have a fun “in the weeds” question for you- humor me with your opinion. So Say you play a Ventus black 6x un-tipped. You want to go lighter in shaft and move to the Ventus black 5x. Would you then say tipping that 5x 1 inch or so would get it “feeling” closer to the 6x? (Since we know lighter weight play softer besides Accra) hopefully that made sense.

The data may not show much difference, but of the shots we saw, you were MUCH more consistent with the non-tipped shaft!

I messed up my order online . I ordered a 6s insted of a 6x .... If i tip my ventus bleu tr 6s 1 inch . It should play like a 6x ?! The shit part is that is all ready at 44.5 right now . What is your opinion on a plug at the top to bring it back to 44.5

I bought a ventus tr 6s. I've always played 7x but getting older. I tipped the 6s 1/2" and it feels dead. I dont know why. Hit an untipped 6s and 6x and they both feel so much better. Could this be a problem with workmanship, like maybe the had to take off too much fit it in the used adapter? Effectively acting like a 2.5" tip.

As a viewer it visually seemed like you needed to put in far more effort with the 'tipped' shaft in order to achieve the same overall outcome of the 'untipped' shaft. Would it then be fair to say that from a cpm stiffness perspective that you'd be more comfortable and hence consistent over a full round with a shaft with a cpm in the mid 260's rather than mid 270's? As a key component of feel where would torque values come into the overall equation? Ie.....a 270 cpm shaft with a torque of >4.5deg versus a 260 cpm shaft with a torque of

How did you get them to be the same length if one was tipped? Just curious
@epgolfstudios
@epgolfstudios Жыл бұрын
Hey Mitchell, it's because I built them to be that way from a raw shaft length. Generally you need to cut about 3 inches off the shaft when you are building a driver to get the correct playing length. So one of them I cut 3 inches off from the butt end, and the other one I cut 1" from the tip and 2" off the butt section.

What if you take a half inch off the butt & tip? I'm about to cut some 45.5" Mitsu AV shafts down. First time.

There isn’t as much droup in the shaft that is why more were low on the head
@epgolfstudios
@epgolfstudios 2 жыл бұрын
It was only half a degree mate, I personally don't believe that's enough to change strike point as much as it did. I think it was more a reaction to feeling less kick in the shaft, therefore feeling like I needed to hit up a bit more bringing the strike down the face
@ryajsmit

❇️ my swing speed puts me between a stiff and regular shaft > my club fitter put in a Ventus velocore regular and tipped half inch and 3/8 off the butt for a 2 iron ✅ stiff would only allow me to fire low bullets ❇️ I wanted to see a bit more flight and work it both ways ❇️

you tipped it and kept the weight out... so you never changed the swing weight for it to be proper... no wonder you thought it felt stiffer. Swing weight is also a huge factor when it comes to feel as well... not just shaft specs
@epgolfstudios
@epgolfstudios 2 жыл бұрын
The whole point of tipping is to make the shaft play stiffer mate, if I had added the weight back into the head and therefore changed swingweight and how the shaft played it would have been a pointless and unfair test. It was to test a tipped Vs un-tipped shaft with exactly the same head to then see how different it would play and whether or not we would actually see any difference in data like the theory may suggest. But you're correct swingweight has a huge effect on how the shaft plays, probably way more than people think....another good video idea 👍

@@epgolfstudios in relation to the above question and building off the video... if someone is cutting down their driver 3/4" and adding 6g back into the head to level out the swing weight, would it make sense to tip the driver shaft or is 6g not going to make a ton of difference? Ventus Black TR 6S, for reference
@epgolfstudios
@epgolfstudios Жыл бұрын
@@jasonjohns773 Hey Jason, no, in my opinion you wouldn't need to tip it. Cutting it down in any capacity does make the shaft play stiffer anyway and with the black being a pretty stout profile I really don't think there would be a noticeable difference in feel even when adding a little bit of head weight back
