Spent 31 years as a FF/medic and flight nurse. That is a tough scene in so many ways. Incredible that they got there at the time they did as that SUV is pretty burnt up and his cloths are still intact. He would have burnt to death within minutes. For sure he suffered bad burns to the head/face, right arm/hand and side. He was pinned and not able to take full breaths combined with unhealthy dose of smoke inhalation hence the fast shallow breathing. I was thinking when the flames started up again in the trailer that it was time to go old school and grab a truck and pull the vehicle back. I didnt realize until other views just how entangled it was in the trailer and that wasnt going to work. Fire guys were one step ahead of me. I was then thinking cut that seat back and get him some room to breath and they did that as well. Really solid job by the guys on scene. Hats off.

Mongo, I agree with you. After watching scenes of awful car crashes (especially the Russian ones), it teaches you to be really aware of the mistakes other car drivers can make...especially cars that shoot out from side streets...that one stops being complacent and becomes extra alert for other people's mistakes while also controlling one's own driving. At least that is valid for me.

That's a pretty bad one. Glad they got him out alive. I did a TC while I was with heavy rescue at SBCoFD. Two door coupe lost control & wrapped itself around a rural mail box with the I beam stuck in the ground with 4 male victims. Driver easily extradited, 1 DOA, two rear passengers were trapped. Took awhile to unwrap the car from them. One eventually died enroute. Next day, we learned that they were all related (brothers/cousins) and was coming back from a funeral. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Now the surviving driver would no doubt harbor this for the rest of his life.

Emergency workers working at all hours, in all conditions, and have to deal with extremely challenging situations on a daily basis. They should get free beer and food wherever they go.

I feel so bad for this poor man trapped in this vehicle. It must be terrifying seeing the flames and dealing with his pain. Why did the truck not have the "Mansfield bumper' that is suppose to stop a vehicle from going under the rear of the truck ??? This was mandatory to all semis and was famously named after Jane Mansfield was decapitated in a vehicle accident rear-ending a semi in june 29th 1967.

Wow, it's a miracle this guy is still alive, the inside of the vehicle is totally burnt!

I was wondering if R72 was on the scene? The front winch may have been helpful. A tough situation and he made it out alive. Good job!

There should be a system in place for all first responders that help them deal with the trauma and grief. The UK has an excellent system for them. Time for America to step up and help these brave and fragile human beings who help save our lives ❤

BIG RESPECT to the First responders who got there on time to control the fire that was starting as that could have easily burned him if they didn't get there on time. Pray for one another during times of trouble. Everything you do in secret is seen in heaven.

Looks like they tried to pull the SUV away from the burning trailer but it was wedged in too tightly. They were forced to continue trying to extricate the victim while at the same time suppressing the fire. Tough job, lots of pressure. Kudos to the rescuers.
