Great video.. I noted the fishing boat on the right @37:54. Out of curiosity, I tracked it down on Google Earth. After locating it and viewing it in street view, I looked up the name that is painted on the boat.... The boat is called the *Winifred James* and it located at the turn off to the seaside village of *Moeraki* - The beach there is famous for it's unique round boulders.

That tunnel! I am 85 and don't get out much but in the last 2 days I've travelled again through our wonderful back country I used to take so much for granted. Quite teary..

That was freaking awesome, made me want to wail like a disappointed, spoilt toddler when it was over. Great job. Thank you so much.

My goodness! The first 5 minutes made me think of south Cornwall. Never been to this part of NZ. Best wishes from UK.

What kind of loco and which company ? Thxs

Railway company is KiwiRail and the video is shot in the South Island of New Zealand. Locomotive sounds like a DX class U25C manufactured by GE in the 1970s. Safeworking is Track Warrant with remote controlled interlocking at Herbert and an automatic, non supervised crossing loop at Hillgrove. Awesome video thank you.

Do they not use the horn for crossings etc

Only if needed mate. Depends on the driver.

Red lights flashing, crossing gate down, annoying bell going DING DING DING, but I'm a dumb ass so I cross the rails......BAM, problem solved! 😉

When I was on the railway we had to whistle at all road crossings, not farm tracks. The thing is that diesel ate more quieter than the steam were.
@isthatus07682 жыл бұрын
@@raymundburkett4644 well that was then....this is now....and you wonder why you're all deaf. No horn needed unless necessary.

Could you clarify for me if the gauge of this railway is 1067 mm?
