Drivers eye view, Seymour to Kilmore East, Dec 2023

Travel with the train driver as we journey from Seymour to Kilmore East in the North East of the state of Victoria, Australia on this regular passenger service to Melbourne run with a Sprinter railcar. This is an update of the previous run due to signal changes along the line. December 2023.

Sprinters are different sounding to the vlocity. The broad gauge on this corridor runs from Melbourne to Tocumwal. Very happy you enjoyed the ride 👍 😀

I followed your trip Southern X - Albury on syandasrd guage and this trip shows me how the broad guage gets into Southern X from the North. Surprised when you got passed by the XPT consist.

G'day, thanks for the ride down the line, the line from Melbourne to Sydney is a great route to see other trains and some of those container trains are massive, loved the race with the two passengers trains, pity you had too stop a station's, cheers mate,see you on the next trip, Neil.

Is the Tallarook section the line they used when Flying Scotsman came to Australia and they did that 4 engine display?

They used the Seymour to Melbourne line (outside the suburbs) with 3 trains in the same direction but not sure if it was all the way or only part of it 👍😀

What exactly were the signal changes you mention in the description?

They have just added and altered a number of the signals along the way and introduced a new system for controlling them. 👍😊

No, this is the state broad gauge line, not part of the interstate line. This line from Seymour to Melbourne has been in the process of upgrading from an old signalling system that was past it's use by date to a new signalling system. 👍😊

That's unfair, the XPT is artificially limited to 130 in Vic!! 🤣🤣🤣

@@peejay1981 both the XPT and the sprinters are maximum 130kph in Victoria. The XPT slowed down a little, that's the only reason we gained on it at all. A nice parallel run. 👍😊
