Something about the multiple lines and the angle of the light, made this a particularly enjoyable journey. I assume some of the other tracks were of a different gauge.

The other two tracks are broad gauge. We are on the standard gauge. What a pity all the states didn't choose the same gauge from the start. 🙄👍😄

@@driver667 If I understand the story correctly, it went down like this. NSW, Vic, & SA: We'll all build in Standard Gauge.😊 NSW: Changed our mind. We're going for Broad.😉 Vic & SA: Okay, Broad it is.😐 NSW: Changed our minds again, Standard.😆 Vic & SA: But we've already started building Broad Gauge.😳 NSW: Sucks to be you then. You'll have to rebuild in 100 years or so.😏 Vic & SA: Grrrr.😡 WA, Qld, & Tas: Meh. You guys didn't even ask us, so we're going for Narrow Gauge. It's cheaper.🤪 Feds @ 1901: Oh crap... we're screwed.🙄

At 4:07 shows the spot where mates and I camped a few times back in late 80's. We would drive over the BG track and park the car in between the BG and SG tracks. No way would you be able to do that now!!

Seymour, where the old man (And us!) was transferred from Serviceton in 1976 or thereabouts. I still remember the train examiner's lunch room on that platform on the SG side and the smell of stale tobacco smoke.

Thanks for this. There doesn't seem to be much track-side signage (speeds, etc). Is this all in-cab?

No, part of a drivers training is to know the track speeds, signals and all other locations as well as all rules relating to the track we are running on. 👍😊

That is the maximum speed and direction of the following curve. There is a yellow curve board on a post in the video, my pop ups make it easier for any trainee drivers watching this to see the speed of the curve. 😊👍
