There has been a lot of work done, but I don't think they have any plans to come right into dynon with double stacks. The edge of the suburbs is about as close as they will come I am led to believe. Very happy you enjoyed the video 👍😊

well, made me lunch, got a beer and plonked down in front of the computer to watch this. I wanted to drive trains when i was in my teens, went surfing instead. A mate of mine has been driving the coal trains in the hunter valley since the 70s! Lucky bugger...maybe i should have paid more attention at school instead of wagging and heading off to the beach ;)) Well, it was newcastle afterall! thanks again for your vids. If you have gone to albury i may well have photographed your train...me and the dog ;)) I find it fascinating watching all the stuff as you drive by...like what are those buildings on the left @11:35 ?

Is it just me or does the run seem faster than the XPT over the same track? On the section between Southern Cross and the Y at Tottenham Yard, it also felt faster than the Overland passes through. Be fair, it looks like a lot of upgrade works have taken place since I've both too. Thank you for the video :)

It probably just feels faster but in reality they are about the same. The overland would be slower especially through Tottenham as it has a slow diverge to negotiate to head to Adelaide. 👍😊 Glad you enjoyed the video 👍 😊

I have a question if you don't mind, I can't work out what the theatre letter "L" stands for on the signal at 7:58 mins. I've been trying to think of some location along the route that starts with "L", but drawn a blank. It's probably something obvious, once I hear it. LOL

I was a bit surprised to see a loco-hauled passenger service at 22.35, hauled by a T-class no less, and in a dark-blue livery. I thought all the SG trains were Velocity sets now.

That T class was a heritage train from Seymour, not the Albury train. All the regular Albury trains are vlocity sets. 👍🙂

Why is the XPT regularly late to Benalla when the V/Line train's that run on the same track are usually pretty good for time ? And why do the BG Seymour services run through the suburban network instead of the regional rail link through Footscray then via the northern freight line to Broadmeadows ?

I don't drive the xpt so I can't give you an answer on the first point, sorry. The freight line from Broadmeadows to Albion is not up to scratch for a regular passenger service also in peak hour there are enough trains on the RRL without running the Seymour trains that way as well. 👍😊

The speed for the xpt is 130kph but the vlocity is restricted to 100kph across this section at the moment. The vlocity does not hit 130kph till kilmore east. 👍😊

@@Voyagerthe2nd that's a very good question. They were allowed 130kph but the different bogie design on standard gauge brought up problems. They were reduced to 100kph all the way and only recently had the limit raised again in most places north of kilmore east. 👍😊

2 orange loco's are ex West Australian. Been there for years. The 7 loco's are AN locomotives. Stored as they are not economical any more. 👍😀

I didn't even know that there were SG Vlocities. Thougt they were all BG. Surprised that they don't push up as far as Wagga to be honest. Pretty sure that they would welcome an extra service per day to supplement the XPT which runs at inconvenient times.

@@driver667 TfNSW would have kittens if the proposal came through, and then get really upset lol. They aren't running a shuttle to Albury or Wodonga at the times that would be useful, not even a bus to line up with the 6.45a Albury to SX service. If there was a rail service to Melbourne from Wagga (because lets face it, both they and Albury prefer to head to Melbourne since it is closer) then it would probably get some patronage.

VLocity sets are allowed into NSW only as far as the platform they terminate on there, they can't even use the other platform apparently. Going to Wagga Wagga would need the drivers all accredited to run in NSW, not sure if the VLocity sets would need separate approvals to run on ARTC NSW Tracks ??

@@pvda64 Yeah, Platform 2 which is a terminating platform. I never saw it happen in the years I was in Albury for Uni. Driver accreditation would be the issue, although I doubt the Vlocities would need to be approved since they already run on the ARTC SG in Vic. I cannot think of any problematic concerns with them over the XPT on that section. There might just be a top speed limitation, they would probably hold them back to 130kph but there were sections between The Rock and Table Top where the XPT was 160kph. Not sure of the current state of the track there, not travelled it in over 10 years.

@@pvda64 forgetting the rolling stock, drivers would need to be qualified in NSW signals and safe working. Vline drivers used to run the xpt as far as Junee so not really a huge problem.

The track on the left is broad gauge 5f3in. Just before the 21 min mark, you see a cross track and the left hand track becomes dual guage. It then passes a train on the left track which looks like one on broad gauge judging by the carriages on it. Our train would be a conflicting movement if it were to change tracks.

Yes we do drive on the left. Both of those lines are bi directional. In this location the one on the right is the main whilst the one on the left is the passing lane. 😊👍
