@@dunxy I recall that the train just ran back and forth in Thomson yard at first while the Thomson River bridge was being restored. I also recall there being a run around loop just before (Thomson end) Happy Creek. I arranged to get off the train there (the public were not to get off at the time) and explore further along the line, under restoration. Upon returning, we had to wait quite some time before the last train arrived to pick us up. Sadly, the train was full, so we had to ride in the cab on the way back. 😀

When I was 16 the track used to go from the Thompson river towards Walhalla for around 1.5km then stop and the train would reverse back, my father and I got off the train and walked the remnants of the old line back into Walhalla which back then was overgrown with shrubs and ferns, it's amazing to see how far the volunteers have come with restoring the line, and how amazing would it be if one day the line can be restored all the way to Moe! It would be a fantastic trip. Have they got a steam loco on this line yet? I must get back up and check it all out.
@driver667 Жыл бұрын
It's great to see the work they have accomplished and would be nice to see it go a little further back along the line but I think the best we could hope for would be Erica. It is a big job to achieve something like that and maybe for now the focus is on consolidating what they have and ensuring that it stays healthy into the future for future generations to enjoy. The railway is diesel powered and does not operate a steam locomotive. 👍😊
