thx mate, yeah it's an amazing drive so worth the effort and an easy way to see a lot of the high country.

its been about 20 years since I were up that way, what we heard about kitty kane, when they were taking her back to woods point, it was a hot day and she was starting to smell, so they burried her on the side of the road We were also told that her grave was on the other side of the road, there is a mine below where that have the grave marker

Great video mate. Am going to hopefully do this drive next week. Can you link the video where you turned right at the start onto Binn’s road please? I can’t see it in your catalog

Thx. I turned Right at Binns Rd, then went down Burgoynes into Macallister Gorge and got stuck there. Here's the link to that video; kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZPVoIKFed6bqJY

Yeah the bottom end is but you can take the bypass and get back onto it instead of heading down to MacCallister River track. Very rough and slow over the top though.... we came back that way in Jan, when I broke the transfer case.....

That’s a nice run split over a weekend camping 1/2 way.

According to the Victorian Heritage Database, William Creighton died at "Bald Hill" near Jericho on 2 November 1862, and was laid to rest at "Bald Hill" by Henry Smith and John Williams. Creighton was a blacksmith by trade, and had left his home in Dundee, Scotland, 10 years or so before his death. He ended up on the Jordan Goldfields, and his death followed almost a year of suffering from erysipelas (deep red inflammation caused by streptococcus), compounded by lack of medical attention. It is presumed but not proven that this is Creighton's grave.

I was sent that way with Google just last month Heading out to Sale from Mansfield. As the road narrowed and the wife got more concerned we turned around and went the long way ☹ looks like we would have been right but I don't think I would have survied in the car LOL Just want to thank you for the video. Love that you gave us an insight. It will help with planning trips. Love the dirt roads but not into hardcore 4WD. Do you know what the road is like from Walhalla to Tyers? Yes new sub so looking forward to a little of the same 🙂

Thanks for the feedback, trip from Walhalla to Tyers is easy driving. It's hard to know what roads/tracks are going to turn into and there's not many options getting through from Walhalla / Licola to the north. Unless conditions have changed markedly I think this route is easier than the Licola - Jamieson route at the moment. Willl keep doing these kinds of touring videos when the opportunity presents.

Would my FWD Mazda 3 be able to do this in Summer (without sidetrips) if dry :) I have done the Western Explorer in Tasmania and also Mt Stirling Circuit Rd to Craigs Hut in it, this main road looks kinda similar

I would have thought so. Key being when it's dry and the tracks in good condition. It's a lot rougher than the Mt Stirling Cct. You'd probably end up going pretty slow in places. Also, possibility on some of the rockier sections that you could end up having to swap a tyre out, some sharp rocks there that could slice the sidewalls on standard road tyres
