It’s hard to believe it when they go forever with no wrecks but every single race they just happen to wreck now? I’m just not convinced, and if the explanation by others is because that’s when the drivers “go for it”?? This is stock car racing. Your racing to be the best lap after lap. I’m quite bothered how it seems they go about things now it’s all about surviving to make it to a two lap shootout and it’s just not something I think is good for the sport only for people who are too concerned with the perfect photo finish for every race. The repave and increase banking is fine, where they screwed up is narrowing the racing surface. Should have kept the old width. And yes kurt no plates.
@jacobevenson87022 жыл бұрын
The issue for them was it was either more banking and a narrow racing surface, or the same banking and wider surface, and they really wanted that extra banking. Increasing the banking and keeping the track just as wide would require moving the outside walls. Kinda the same thing with Texas (just in the opposite way) when they decreased banking so it widened the track in turns 1 and 2.
@ScottXC912 жыл бұрын
They had to narrow the surface because they didn’t want to move the walls. The only way to increase banking without moving the walls is my narrowing up the racing surface and creating a shorter distance from the apron to the wall. Which leads to a higher banking angle.

The Coca Cola 600 has been one that has fallen victim to that, 2015 and 2016, especially. When one driver leads almost every damn lap, something needs change, whether it's the package or whatever. A guy like Kyle Larson is penalized in this bullshit racing. His talent is diminished because this was a restrictor plate race plain and simple. Atlanta is 1.5 miles it should come down to who sets the car up best and what driver is best at pushing his car that day. This sets a precedent Atlanta was a restrictor plate race today, 1st one in Nascar history not named Daytona or Talladega... Damn shame because Atlanta had some of the closest, best finishes in Nascar History. This Race at ATL Was Awesome Cars wasnt so spread Out Its a Nice Change and Different Drivers are Winning nice Change Nascar Just sucks so many Good drivers get taken out i think the new Ride Kinda Sucks the low profile tires almost everytime the cars get sideways and slide the Goodyear Eagles Pop at least the cars are safer but Damn Increase the Horsepower these are pros and Grown ass Men.

A sad day they turned atlanta into talladegaa. More boring clumped together racing with no breakaways or 2 or 3 car great finishes. Combined with 7 boring road courses. Now maybe 10 races left to watch

For once a honest response from a real driver in nascar.......thank you Mr.Busch !.land o' lakes,wi.

Gotta do something. 1.5s killed the sport. Every race is terribly boring. Add in pocono and Cali-mich that’s a ton of dull races. Don’t forget the mother of boring Indy. Now they go crazy with road races. How about more unique tracks and more short tracks
@wizskinz99872 жыл бұрын
Agree they do have to do something. I didn’t care to watch 1.5s a few years back cuz it was same crap, just leader being 6 seconds ahead and just begging a caution happens to make things enjoyable. And yup more unique style tracks especially short tracks please
@funboy82 жыл бұрын
What is Nascar’a obsession with trying to get this kinda of racing at every track. Daytona and talladega is enough for this. This kind of racing just tears up cars smh. I hope nascar goes back with the regular aero package In July. It has put on great racing so far.

Kyle Busch just deflates everyone lol
@sirmonkey19852 жыл бұрын
tbh he's going to get chastised whether he did his interview normal or the way he did it there since you're required by nascar to do the interview and we already knew he wasn't a fan of the track change when it was announced so theres your KB middle finger to nascar without pissing off the sponsors.

I respect Kurt Busch a bit cuz he’s matured a lot but never really give a crap what the Busch brothers say especially Kyle. Don’t even try to tell me you’d rather watch a normal Atlanta race over that cuz you’re kidding yourself. It was a good race. I think we really need more short tracks but gotta give credit to Atlanta because that race was getting worse and worse glad they could change things up, and as Ross said, don’t add anymore of these

If Bubba would learn to pick a lane when it comes down to go time he'd not get himself jacked up. When he's in the lead the dude spends to much time trying to block. Not hating on the guy but till he stops panicking and blocking like he does he's always going to come up short.

I agree with the assessment that you can't pass easy enough that came from several of the drivers they took an Atlanta Track that was unique in comparison to any other track in the country and in my opinion they screwed it up completely I got tired of seeing this style of racing how boring it was and I actually cut the race off NASCAR continues to basically kill my interest newer is not always better
@johncarter11372 жыл бұрын
It wasn't a good race. It was a good show, if you like that sort of thing. It was good entertainment but not good racing. I'm coming from a driver's standpoint when I say it wasn't good racing. It's not good racing when the leader has to feather the throttle to stay in the lead. I know that happens at the other two super speedways but they are wide enough for it not to cause a problem most of the time while Atlanta is narrow and all it does is cause wrecks but that's what most "fans" want to see now days.
@robertb2032 жыл бұрын
Well, also "coming from a drivers standpoint" I can say that it was good racing. I don't want to see a bunch of cars get wadded up 3 times a race, but the door to door racing is exciting. These races are 400 or 500 miles long... I don't want to see 1 car run 4 seconds ahead of every one else for 500 miles. I want to see 5 cars come off turn 4 on the last lap, and not know for sure who'll cross the line first. Ideally, pack racing without the wrecks would be perfect. Lots of lead changes, and nail biting finishes.

@nathannonneman15312 жыл бұрын
So the drivers mostly hate it. Well big whoop. Nascar is a business that's struggling and needs more entertainment value. The NFL is a sports powerhouse and still changes the rules to make it more exciting to watch. If you wanna get the younger generations to spend their money on tv and tickets you gotta have something that interests them.
