After playing the first edition I was sure it was the inspiration for time story. I was very interested because it permit a lot more play time. Now with the app, a lot more game time is coming a head. Thank you for the very excellent play through. I liked it a lot.

Awesome review! I'll be expecting the Spanish version of this game by December anxiously! Thank you so much for this illustrating review!

Hey! The intro matches up with the game this time! :D

Thanks for clarifying line of sight. We came to the same conclusion but weren't sure it was correct.

The purely cardboard first edition also offered replayability when it came to puzzles. This was done by having puzzle components randomly drawn and arranged from a baggie or blind pile.

Thank you for another great review. 3 years after: Any review about the expanaions..?

I've only played friends' copies, and I think (iirc) just the first expansion.

Had the same bug last night. We had to force close the app (Make sure not to exit or end game from the app) Once you relaunch it, it will have the saved game.

REALLY can't wait for this game to hit the German market. I really like those kind of games but they usually depend on a game master which in my group nobody is interested in doing. The addition of an app is a welcome progress and I hope to see more of this stuff in the future.

I haven't got the first one but am very keen to get the second edition!

Awesome stuff, Joel. I was pretty sure I wanted this - your review sealed the deal. It'll be here in 2 days. Can't decide between this and Silver Tower? Great! I love that game as well. I have the first edition of MoM, but never played it --- hope this gives me the opportunity to leverage that older content. The setup was a bear for the first edition and one wrong move ruins the experience for all. Having an app do this work is what I always said MoM needed. Can't wait to try this out.
@DriveThruReview8 жыл бұрын
Ya. It's two different styles of storytelling. I actually think each will have about the same replayability. The general plot of each scenario will be the same in across missions (in both games), but the random encounters in WHQ and puzzles etc... in MoM will keep each scenario playable for a couple of times each.

Thanks Joel.

After watching the play through, it seems very much to me that this game is basically what descent is now, with the Road to Legend app, ie A cooperative dungeon crawl. Does it feel like Descent 2.0? It seems Fantasy flight is also doing this for Star Wars Imperial Assault with the companion app there too... So what is the difference between these games now, apart from the obvious theme lick of paint?
@DriveThruReview8 жыл бұрын
This is the next step from what the app does in Descent. More detail in the review.
@gurtana8 жыл бұрын
+Drive Thru Review I understand it's got puzzles and madness but I just getter feeling that this, Descent 2.0 and Imperial Assault are just re-themes and re-tweaks of the essentially the same formula. If you own all of them, it's a massive money investment for basically a very similar game 3 times over for slightly different appeal/theme.
@DriveThruReview8 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree. I don't think it's "efficient" to own all three. That's without seeing the Imperial Assault app, which (you never know) could have something radically different. The app for MoM definitely feels like it has more of a "brain" behind it though.

Hey great review and play through. I play games solo, so my question is. Do you think it would be good for me as a solo player. Thanks

100%. Two of my plays were solo :)

I've read a few people mention that the miniatures in this one feel a bit flimsy/cheap I didn't catch whether you mentioned it or not. Have any opinions about the quality of the game pieces?
@DriveThruReview8 жыл бұрын
I guess "average" is accurate. The minis in Descent and IA are much better quality.
@markhorneff24308 жыл бұрын
Awesome review as always. Can i ask what the minis are behind you, the winged figure looks cool and a little familiar
@DriveThruReview8 жыл бұрын
Mostly Age of Sigmar up there including the winged figures.

Great review! Just a couple of questions though about difficulty if you don't mind? Where would you put it between Descent Road to Legend, Galaxy Defenders, and Eldritch Horror? Also how do you handle wargamers who would have lots of "fun" with the line of sight rule being that you can place your figure anywhere on a space and some of those spaces are pretty big?
@DriveThruReview3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike. Sorry, I am just now seeing this. I would put this right behind Eldritch Horror. I still really enjoy that one. Since this video, my group and I have played through all the base game scenarios and one of the expansions (I forget which. I didn't own it). I think the difficulty is actually just about perfect in this game.
@mikejonesnoreally3 жыл бұрын
@@DriveThruReview Thanks! I think I agree with you about the relative difficulty.

Page 8 in the learn to play guide says that range cannot be counted through walls. Quite clear to me;)

It's the doors part that got us. Once the door is open... it's open... right? ;)
@DonPers8 жыл бұрын
+Drive Thru Review hmm Ok well i guess its no to ranged even thru "open" doors? just bought the game thanks to your review. So im going thru the rules for our first play tomorrow.:)
@DriveThruReview8 жыл бұрын
Right. It makes sense. Doorways are tiny and you can hide behind the door etc... The other thing that threw me was the Horror checks. Thematically many of those don't necessarily require line of sight. It makes sense the way it's written. Just sometimes the effect is a sound which just requires proximity really.
@DonPers8 жыл бұрын
+Drive Thru Review ok I will keep that in mind. Thank you for the great reviews and playthrus you upload.

There are actually 4 scenarios in the base game. Admittedly, 1 is very long, and might count for 2 scenarios.

Will you be able to play the first edition with the app in the future?
@DriveThruReview8 жыл бұрын
No but having first edition will give you more options and (supposedly) a couple of new scenarios come Fall.

Can the game be played without the use of the app? How much of the game takes place on the app? It almost looks like a complete game in its own.

The app is 100% integral to the game.

Great review! I will be buying this game, I guess. Also: anybody know the name of the song at the end screen?

It's a remix of a remix of a remix kind of thing. I grabbed a couple techno tracks and smashed them together for a few hours in Audacity. So... it's "nothing" :)

great review as usual. watched your playthrough but still on the fence with this one. watching your playthrough, it seems like youre using the app more than the actual physical game, and imo that kinda veers away from one major reason why i play boardgames- that is, steering away from things digital.

Is this game good for only 2 players? How bad is the rulebook? Thank you for this video.

Works great for 2. Rulebook is basically "the app" which is fine and walks you through all the funky stuff.

Thank you again. I am interested in this game but we (wife and I) usually play board games to stay away from computers, tablets, etc. I don't see us playing this game many times if we have to interact with a screen to play the board game. I see why many people like this game, but probably, and unfortunately, it's not for us.
