Do NOT replace the rear main seal unless it is confirmed to be leaking. There is a special tool needed to install it to the proper mm depth and if you don’t have it, and try to install it any other way using any other type of tool, it will leak. Go with the SACHS stage 2.5. It’s basically the factory DMFW, your choice of friction disc and the most important- the “764” pressure plate that gives a higher clamping force.

I was worried about that. It's not leaking now.

If you’re going to add more power, Protomotive dual clutch is a great option. I would caution against “launching” these manuals, especially high horsepower. As much fun as it might be, you’ll fry your front diff and new/used diffs and diff parts are hard to come by these days. High horsepower manual Turbos really shine when you roll on it…PDK Turbos are built for launching.

Definitely rear main seal and any other rear engine access seals or lines. Might as well replace axle seal gaskets on the transmission, input shaft seal. I also saw a rubber hose that had two worm clamps on them. Looks like a recipe for a leak so possibly replace that as well. Anything to not have to worry about the inaccessible back half of the engine and transmission.

I was glad to know you made it home that night!! As stated above, you could do the rear main seal as preventive but if it’s dry I’d leave it. Also the single mass flywheel will give you a quicker rev and unleash a little bit of the torque lost in drivetrain transfer but they do tend to vibrate more than the dual mass so up to you on what you can live with. And from what we’ve talked about I’d def go with the triple disc clutch we talked about.

I think one of the most important things that you can replace while you’re in there and what generally people always do on nearly every car is to replace the rear main oil seal which sits underneath the flywheel, it’s definitely a while you’re in their job. Comment from an old guy. Someplace there will be a specification for the free play between brake pushrod and the face of the master cylinder piston. Your brakes were probably dragging because the rod was adjusted too “long” and was applying hydraulic pressure even without the brake pedal being depressed. With the brake pedal fully released, remove the master cylinder and place a small amount of modeling clay or similar in the cup on the back of the piston. Rebolt the master cylinder without touching the pedal. Unbolt it and use the clay to measure the “gap” and adjust to factory specs. Been there/done that. Phil
