James May is the only man to live in the 1950s and 2050s at the same time
@KermitFrogThe4 жыл бұрын
He does it the right way. Remembers and learns from the past and uses this to appreciate the present and future. I like the musical analogy. I appreciate the music that enabled what I like to exist, even though I don't like most of it. Without Presley, Led Zep etc. I wouldn't have the fast heavy metal I enjoy, but I find them both dull and dated now.

At that point you could buy a newer car with all the relevant technology for probably a lot cheaper. Sure you can put brand new things in the car make it "new" but that just ruins any value the car had its an old car people who like old cars will love it for its vintage quality.

Reluctantly sold my Porsche 987 about 6 months ago. Unlike James’s feelings towards his Ferrari, I loved it and miss it dearly. Since a very early age I have always wanted a Porsche. Luckily I was in a kind of one off financial position to buy one as a second car 2 years ago. Recently my house needed building work completing and had to make the supreme sacrifice. I doubt I will be able to replace it, but would buy another in a heart beat if I could. Yes its not the fastest but we all have a connection to things. Just thought Id share that with you :)

The problem is Ferrari don't believe in producing new relic models. Our minds eye, gets old. This fools us into thinking the car is old and not suited to you. Ferrari doesn't see cars that way. The Ferrari car has a full tank of potential energy when it's clean and in 100% condition. That's the whole point of handmade engines. The colour is tuned for you. You fill up the tank with potential energy. They could easily slap together an engine building machine, but they don't. James was the WRONG customer in the first place.

Why, even after 8 years and 200,000 miles that I put on it, my 2004 S60R is hands down my favorite car ever. They made fun of it on Top Gear when it came out (and no, I don't have a Trilby to wear when driving it) it's not the fastest, but it isn't shamefully slow, it handles very, VERY well, it's luxurious without being snobbish, and it even has weird faults and quirks that any exotic does... heheh, but it is an all weather grand tourer and it does great for that role. It may not (probably does not!) fit you, but for me, it's still amazing. If that Ferrari didn't do that for me, it'd be gone, too.
