Most younger Millennials and Zoomers wouldn't understand '80s and '90s car HP ratings. They forget that it was a representation of its time, technology, and standards of the day. They forget that those cars were also a lot lighter than much more modern cars -- they didn't need 700hp just to make it move, like today's cars. Let's not forget, either, that 225hp was still respectable even into the mid-2000s. The 2002-07 WRX was 227hp, an SRT4 Neon was 215-230hp (depending on year), and the supercharged Cobalt SS and ION Redline was 205hp. A VERY underrated 205hp, but 205hp nonetheless. Horsepower isn't EVERYTHING when in comes to a performance car, or a vehicle's driving dynamics. It's a decent part of the equation, but it isn't everything.

I think some people get so focused on power, they forget about the other driving dynamics. yeah, my grandmother's buick makes twice as much power as my honda. but the honda is half a ton lighter, a few feet shorter, & the suspension is tuned for a sportier feel. on paper, the buick should be more fun. but it isn't.

This comment isn't really about this video but rather whole Jeremy Clarkson, James may and Richard Hammond's incredible career in grand tour and top gear. I've just finished watching their last ever film on grand tour and i want to say thank you. Thank you for the happiness that both the top gear and grand tour brought to my life , thank you for starting my interest in cars and thank you for the humorous entertainment that made my life worth living because literally in my lowest moments in life your humor helped to get off my knees. What you guys did is special . I am going to miss grand tour and top gear and thank you once again. (Please forgive me , my English is mid at best )

It was Frank who designed the wing on the back, in fact it was meant to be a triple wing, but because of cost, it was taken down to two. Wheeler Dealers with Ant Ansted actually modified a cosie to look as it should, taken from Franks sketches he did.

I also didn't realize that Clarkson only had the car for a year -- it seemed like longer than that, and I thought he mentioned that he had it until around 1997 in an old OLD Top Gear video. It popped up several times in his old videos back then, and it was even mentioned in Eric Bana's "Love the Beast." The car evidently left a long-lasting impression on Jezza.

They are the perfect combination of TV personalities that ever existed. Rather than just separating into their own boring elderly life stuff, they should have created an adventure business based on Grand Touring. They can combine things from Diddly Squat farm, Hawkstone brewery, May's pub, Hammond's car modifications (with crazy/deadly adventures) to it. People will love to do their own documentaries, Instagram posts, KZbin videos including a socialising experience with the world famous trio at the end of their own grand tour.

To answer "Is it worth it," you must first ask what value you place on regaining a piece of your youth. Cars like these have the value they do not just because they are great cars, but because they are time machines that transport people back to the youth they had, or the one they wish they had.

I mean, the Carlton barely sold over 900 units, mean while ford sold over 10,000 Cosworths to the U.K. market alone. Not to mention the cosworth motor could easily be mapped up to 300bhp. Yes the Carlton was the big dog, but with so few about (and starting at 4 times the cost) the Cosworth arguably left a bigger impact on the U.K. 90s tuning culture

Mike is becoming a legend in his own right. I could see somebody doing a video on his Rover or Mondeo in a similar fashion in 30 years

Would have been awesome for Jeremy to be in the video. I'm only 30 seconds in, but I assume he's not in it.

A big thanks to the legend that is John Bentley, for giving us Clarkson in Top Gear, I suppose? LOL!

Interesting you say about everyone wanting to be associated with Cosworth these days, Bugatti seem to have downplayed their input into the Tourbillon quite a bit

Watch the Wheeler Dealers episode with the Cossie, they have the designer of the rear wing and they make it how it was meant to be, with two “wings”

@@shugaroony Unpopular opinion but don’t really like Edd China, prefer Ant Anstead, but he wasn’t as bad as “Elvis”, 😂 Cossie episode is still interesting though. Should give it a watch.

Now that I can legally import them into the US, I really, really, really want to get one. It looks like prices on decent ones have gone crazy though.

I reckon you guys should bid on it and collect it and keep it with the grad tour and top gears cars what you have collected as that one is one of one Clarkson daily so the Vale of that later on in the years to come could end up going up and up

It looks phenomenal , I’d buy one any day but I do feel the car itself has a better reputation than is actually warranted . A Subaru bug eye is a much better car to drive

The focus mk2 st / rs may have nothing to do with cosworth, but i'll be surprised if their prices don't shoot through the roof with their legendary inline 5's which can easily be pushed to over 600bhp and be awd converted by bolting on some volvo bits
