Can't believe nobody here is saying this but rest in peace to Richard Parry-Jones, chief engineer of this very car who sadly died this week. A powerhouse in the automotive world, and responsible for Ford's success in Europe in the 90s and early 2000s.

Ford have stopped making the Mondeo, but Volvo and Jaguar are still producing them. Ironically the platform sharing with more premium brands and people's bizarre attachment to SUVs will have been the death of this and a number of other large saloons and hatches.

Such a shame about the Mondeo's discontinuation. Even in 2021 you'd be struggling to find a Mondeo-Free street in the UK. Such an icon to the masses and one that will be missed. As for this Mondeo, I got goose pump hearing that V6 fire up. What! A! Machine!

my parents had a juice green Mondeo Estate when I was a kid and it was such a nice car - was a bit knackered and some of the buttons didn't work but the look of this generation of Mondeos has a real special place for me - lovely to see this get restored

I optimised the piston clearances on this engine. Lots of hours spent in a refrigerated test cell wearing comically large headphones Doing cold starts trying to get right balance of 'tink', 'slap' and 'squeak'. Nothing quite beats a human ear.

Advertising law in UK clearly stipulates that it should be clear when promoting products where advertisement is paid and Drivetribe clearly breaks the laws by not being transparent about it. Quite opposite, they deliberately mask it as their genuine choice or reasonable option, despite everything halfrauds offers being generally poor quality, value or both.

Having owned the U.S equivalent (Contour SVT) I easily understand the passion for this fine vehicle. It was a bit expensive compared to other econoboxes ... but the content made up for the price. Great road car ... fast stable and fun.

Owned the American version. FORD CONTOUR SVT Great handling car.. loved the turns!! To bad it made such force in the turns that oil didn't go to the pistons. So if I was this guy I would add a oil sender unit to pressure the system more. BAT a UK racing team use to sell one but that was over 10yrs ago. Big Ford fan here. I drive the Yamaha Ford cars own and have owned several. Wish top gear would have done a test drive with the Yamaha and st200 american cars

That car is sweet, the Contours weren't super popular here, kinda wish they were. I always liked the SVTs. Also the drive train in my F250 is massive, that one is normal size.

The ST200 was my dream car when I was twelve - I love hot saloons, and especially hot saloons that _don't_ look as though they've reversed through a Halfords. Too many of these have been befouled with aftermarket wheels, IMO.

When the alternative costs more than the car's worth, arguably costs more than just getting a new car, and you've got neither the kind of money that drivetribe does, nor the luxury of a second car to drive while the first is in the shop.. yeah, people are going to be fairly quick to break/scrap their old car instead of putting it through a months-long restoration.
