As with all you do, I am anxiously waiting to see the finished project. The batteries dont last long in 90 plus degrees. I can't help but to go ahead and thank you again for going through the extra time and aggravation of setting and moving the cameras around. I sure do preciate you, as Jeff and Hannah Barron would say! I'm retired and home most all the time so Simply Safe is a little much. Instead I bought Blink at Bestbuy w an Amazon account. That's a lot cheaper and it's controlled w my phone too. Stupid bees and cats and dogs set my 3 cameras off mostly. Is really a peace of mind. Like Nu Breed and Jesse Howard sing in their song, "U Turn," "We call the shots, We don't call cops, we call family, we call friends". As we all know, half our stuff will be long gone by the time it takes cops to arrive! Of course w Hunter at home you are very wise to use Simply Safe. I'm sure you got negative feedback on your Ecoflo report. Here is my response. I watched the video and thought that I could use that. Here in Florida we have a season you don't have in Pennsylvania. It's called Hurricane Season. Because we live 100 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and 100 miles from the Gulf, we have mostly power outages with no real damage. I followed your instructions and purchased the unit from Amazon during Prime day and got a discount. That's why you do these videos so keep up the good work. Who knows Simply Safe may be next. Lol

I’m curious as to why you fill the ditch with limestone, instead of just putting the dirt that you dug out back in?

Dirt would need to be properly compacted to give the culvert good support and prevent future settlement. The stone gives the culvert good support without much attention to compaction and it will resist a condition known as "piping". Piping is when water finds it's way under and outside the culvert and can wash the fill out from around the culvert during heavy flow conditions. Good idea to backfill with the stone if you can afford it.

David Morse We have installed plenty culverts for drive ways on a trailer park my father built. There was a drainage ditch that ran down both sides of the street. The culverts were installed as to not interfere with the drainage of that ditch. The dirt the culverts rest on was not disturbed. We always watered in the dirt as we back filled the ditch with the dirt we removed. Then it was covered with a product we called pit run. It was an orange clay with a good bit of sand and some gravel. When it got rained on a couple times it became very hard. We never had a problem with any sinking or wash out. These were installed in the 50s and 60s and they are still in great shape.

The important take away lesson is to plan for stability in the installation. Because of different regional geographies, there can be different backfill materials based on what's available locally. Mike, thanks for showing us the importance of using your equipment with skill and forethought.
