This Matador engine was a wonderful piece of ruggedness and longevity. In the 80's, the engines that were salvaged from scrapped Matador Tempo van or pickups were installed in Ambassadors for conversion into diesel fuel, long before HM started selling diesel engined cars themselves. Already the engines would have been driven 5 to 10 lakhs kilometers in the Tempos and thereafter these were installed in the cars, but still these engines used to give a trouble free service for many years after fitment in Ambassadors. Later, Bajaj Tempo started selling new engines for fitment in cars. Also HM themselves rolled out cars with BMC diesel engines, but these were less powerful and of very short life. BMC engines needed engine rebuild In around one lakh kilometers, when lack of power and smoke started. There was also a Company in Coimbatore who were building similar engines for fitment in Ambassadors called Jaya Diesel engines. Isuzu diesel engines were introduced even later. Your car's engine seems to be in good condition from its sound, without knocking.

I have seen your 2 vlogs brother after that this one. So kindly keep uploading the vlogs of this matador engine Amby. Here in Bengal matador engine Amby extincted in early 90's and here conversions were mostly unsuccessful leading to engine bed cracks. My father used to have one during mid 90's used as private taxi Reg No started with WMY.... this series is called taxi cancel series cars. It was Mark 3 converted to Nova.

I think, low mace cost and long life is for manual steering. But better to go for power steering for comfort if you df don't bother about mace costs.

👍 I was not driving in highspeed. May be the wide angle view of gopro makes that visual impression. And the roads where narrow too with small undulations and curves which needs frequent steering inputs. All these together may make the visuls seem like going fast.
