In something completely different for our channel, in Summer last year Tomo went to Switzerland and decided to drive around a childhood favourite track of his to see how it fared against the virtual version.

I didn't know it was a real route! Very cool. It's plausible that they asked employees from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to go and scout the place out for them, maybe even put a chunky '90s camera on the dash/roof/bonnet, but who knows! I like the idea that they took a narrow village route, saw something racetrack-shaped and used some imagination to transform it into something much faster.

It's really a testament to the amount of detail put into this Series from the beginning, it's awesome to be able to uncover these things so long after! Great video!

Thumbs up from me... I was thinking it would be The Eiger circuit from GT5/6 era, but got confused, still a good vid of course!! ;)

Paris has 2 tracks that's based on real roads: George V and Opera The town of Assisi (Italy) has Citta d'Aria And if you go to Tokyo (Akasaka section) you'll find Route 246! New York has a fictional circuit too based on real roads.

Madrid and London had real roads as the race track too!

That's is soooo cool! Excellent to go and drive it and thanks for making the video 👍👍 I drove part of the Sierra track from GT5 over in Spain a few years back. Sadly I had a crappy little hire car but it was still cool to go and do it 😀

Grinderlwald's fast swipes are my favourite thing.... but I never really liked that circuit in overall. At first I never knew it was from real life layout, but in other hand, it would not had surprise... other than location itself.

Had no idea this was a real road, cool vid! GT1 will always be my favourite as its what really confirmed to me that cars are the greatest thing ever. GT2 is pretty close behind though! I've been progressively less charmed by every game since and haven't been able to care enough to even try what came after gt5. They just seem so sterile:(

Now I want to see a wagon version of that Mercedes as a mod for GT2. And by "now" I mean, before even watching the video, just by the thumbnail. Also, aren't ALL road circuits in GT games based on real road layouts? Seattle, New York, Citta di Aria? Costa di Amalfi too I think.

Would be really cool if one of the mod teams making mods for GT2 added a diesel Mercedes wagon as a mod. I think we'd actually cry! I think so yes, just really cool!

absolutely loved this track in the game, shame it was only there and not in gt3 and gt4

Yo, I enjoyed this video. Thanks! Can you please tell me which music tracks were used for both the first GT2 lap, and then the comparison two-frame portion? Love those OST songs, and cant remember which ones they were. Great use of them in your video!
@427MotorsportsАй бұрын
Thanks so much for your comment!! The one for the first lap is west city - french and Italian cars. The one on the comparison is actually the theme song from DRIV3R. Cheers!

@@427Motorsports Thanks for the reply. I did end up finding the West City track. I would not have gathered the DRIV3R, so cheers for that! You actually inspired me to buy the GT2 & 3 OST CDs from Japan. Sub'd, cheers!

I always thought Grindewald was a fictional circuit located somewhere in the Alps until I found this video. To be honest it's not my favorite track in GT2.

Gran Turismo 2 had the best roadster at the time on the cover while the original one had its tires . Best performance tires.

what were you using as the GPS Navigation device?? It looks like an iPad Mini?
@427Motorsports6 ай бұрын
Yup, iPad mini! It's a cellular one, connected to a bluetooth head unit in the car, meaning I have basically all the infotainment of a modern car but easily removable to keep it classic!

As we aren’t a gaming channel but a car restoration channel, some explaining as to what the hell we’re talking about to our usual audience was necessary. But thanks, later.
