You mean that it was damaged by the Turks? Are you sure about that? Only because if it was intentionally damaged by people I think it would look different. They could have destroyed it much more than it is with a sledgehammer in a few minutes. The damage looks fairly evenly displaced throughout the church, including up towards the ceiling where people couldn't reach. It looks more like it was caused by an earthquake to me, though I certainly could be wrong.

@@GabrielTravelerVideosas I said in one of your previous videos, in 1974 during the invasion and thereafter over 500 churches, monasteries and chapels were destroyed and looted. This is a fact. I refer to the book by the Rev D Demosthenous, which lists quite comprehensively. Mostly Greek Orthodox, but Armenian, Maronite and any Christian place of worship. It's been almost 50 years and apart from a chosen few, many have been left to decay on purpose.

The churches have been subject to the most violent and systematic desecration and destruction. The south has a lot of what the western world has to offer, whereas the north is like stepping back in time and is still quaint and less developed, although that is quickly changing. The fact the north is embargoed restricts its development and that’s why it attracts individual foreign investment from other countries like Russia. A lot of people who have lived in the south, choose to move to the north, partly cos it’s less expensive, but also cos the pace of life is slower

Most people in the north just get on with their lives and don’t obsess about the island being divided. There were no worshiping places which were build by greek setlers untill The Ottoman Turks took cyprus from venetians. Greeks had no right to worship christianity. All buildings you see were actually buildt by venetians. The only time greeks were given buildings to practice their religion was when Ottomans took control of Cyprus in 1587. Cyprus which was ruled by different suzerains, but which never in its entire history came under Greek rule, was conquered by the Ottomans in 1571 and ruled by them until 1878 when it was rented to the Biritish..

Hi Gabriel, a noticeably quiet day not much to see as you're reaching the end of the island. Harald Baldr is in Rhodes, and he always mentions you Gabriel High Roller as he goes on a 1-hour spending spree with one thousand Euros in the stores there at the new market area.

What is with Harald and Bald lately? They do like a video every other month. Laziness in their success?

I hope you are going to Nicosia, I think it may be the only divided capital in the world, with the possible exception of Jerusalem. I would love to see video of this division and how it looks and works in real time.

No, it's definitely cheaper than Israel, as you'll see in the next few videos. Accommodation in particular is a lot cheaper.

Hotels in Israel can be expensive, but you can get a room or apt on Air BnB for much less. Also there's a lot of good street food that's 1/2 the price of the restaurants.

Change the title pls. It's illegal and unhistorical. There is no turkish Cyprus or sides. There is only Republic of Cyprus member of UN and EU According to multiple UN resolutions north part of Republic of Cyprus is illegally occupied by Turkish army since it invaded in 1974. Thnx
