Amazing views up on that mountain castle. I must say, I like the look of this island a lot more than the traditioal Greek island destinations, which are so barren, overcrowded and expensive. Everything just looks so lush and wild.

Black propaganda! This is a castle dating back to Crusader times! The word “Byzantine” did not even exist in those times. This word was coined in 1557 by the German archaeologist HİERONYMUS WOLF to Label the later years of the ROMAN EMPIRE.

Watched the part 1 and didn't realize it's a place where 'four seasons in a day' is less a saying and more a reality TV show. It felt like you experienced summer, winter, spring, and autumn vibes all before lunch, and then the weather plays the repeat button just for fun. As a fellow traveler, those weather will surely not stop me and our TV show from enjoying the beauty of that country.

Here's an idea, Gabe: Cyprus is not actually divided in two; it is divided into THREE parts with the Greek speaking part, the Turkish-speaking part, and a couple of small British "Sovereign Base Areas" (Akrotiri and Dhekelia) left over as part of the negotiations to end the fighting in the 1970s. Apparently, you can visit them without border checks from Greek Cyprus. Just thought that might interest you. They have Wikitravel pages.
@andrewslifestyle2289
@andrewslifestyle2289 Жыл бұрын
Let me correct you! The British sovereign bases you mention, were negotiated by the British and Cyprus in 1960 once Cyprus gained independence after British rule. The Turkish invasion and illegal occupation of 1/3 of the island took place in July and August 1974, in two waves! Akrotiri’s British base near Limassol is not small. In fact it’s the largest British base outside of Britain
@ipponus
@ipponus 4 ай бұрын
Actually Cyprus is not divided. When British left in 1959 they withdrew from the island remaining in Dekeleia, Acrotiri, St Nicholas area and the radars on Troodos mountain. That's why those areas are sovereign. Turkey invaded in Cyprus in 1974 and still occupies the northern area of Cyprus illegally under the Turkish troops boots. There are no borders but check points at specific areas agreed between the government of Cyprus, the United Nations and Turkey, in orderto allow the 2 communities of the island to exchange ideas and establish trust slowly slowly. The line which shares the 2 parts of the island is called " line of cease fire". The island is still occupied after a military invasion and no solution is given or agreed up to now to satisfy both communities.

I have watched you travel the world over the years and enjoyed your content and sporadically made public positive comments. On this occasion I am stunned and dismayed at your somewhat frivolous and inappropriate terminology describing the Illegally occupied territory of northern Cyprus. It is NOT disputed land it was illegally taken by armed forces. As we run as children with our parents grandparents cousins friends when the bombs and gunshots rained over our heads to get to safety whilst many were left behind to the cruel mercy of the illegal invaders who raped stole murdered and pillaged our homeland and our heritage. Northern Cyprus is not recognised by the international community for this reason. Those illegal occupants trying to persuade and entice wilfully ignorant persons to buy into this distorted narrative. They enjoy the blood sweat tears and heartbreak of those Cypriots who lost so much and continue to grieve unable to return. Whilst you enjoy a subside room rate in a luxury hotel courtesy of the Repulic of Turkey, you fail to acknowledge that it was funded at the hands of dead Cypriots whose graves and tombs were desecrated for the gold they’re buried with. I am disappointed in your words and actions.

I've mentioned the Turkish invasion in most of the videos that I've posted of Northern Cyprus and will be discussing it more in-depth in the next couple of videos. There have been injustices committed in most countries that I visit, including my own country of the US which was stolen from the Native Americans. I don't agree with the British invasions of almost every country on Earth. The fact that I travel somewhere does not mean that I agree with and support all of their policies in the past or present. I understand that many disagree with any acknowledgment of Northern Cyprus as separate from the rest of Cyprus, but that is the reality now. It's been fifty years and the northern part is very different now from how it was before, including a border where I had to show my passport to enter. I'm simply showing my viewers what it's like, and telling people what it's called now. It's a sad part of history but unfortunately that's the way it is in many parts of the world.✌️

@@GabrielTravelerVideos Thank you for your response. Just because the illegal invading country Turkey unilaterally declares the northern part of Cyprus a ‘country’ doesn’t make it so and no amount of shouting from Ankara will sway the international community. It’s an illegally occupied territory and any development will be vociferously challenged in the highest courts (as it has been successfully on numerous occasions)!be it 50 or 100 years and your viewers need to understand this clearly. Only Turkey recognises these illegal territories no amount of Tourist/Commercial ‘washing’ extinguishes the facts.

Hi Gabriel, What a surprise I believe the castle is Byzantine-era. This looks to be an English castle they were such a big part of the Crusades with Richard the Leonhardt the Lord of Cyprus. He was the Christian Commander of the Third Crusade and a remarkably interesting King of England for ten years he achieved victories against the Muslins but in the end, all he could negotiate was a peace treaty the campaign ended without ever retaking Jerusalem. Famagusta strikes me as the Las Vegas of the Island with Billboards and casinos I bet the Internet service is much faster too. Low prices could be low season may be more of a winter retreat or just low prices to drive more business away from other touristy areas.

That tomb looked very similar to the Garden of Tomb, supposedly the one Yeshua was placed in. If that is true, then that tomb could be that old. Seem like I read they only practiced that type of burial for 100 years, placing the body in a tomb for a year, then gathering the bones and placing them in a ossuary in their family tomb, not sure.

It won't be overrun by tourists anytime soon. Northern Cyprus is a notoriously hard destination to advertise only thanks to Greek Cypriot watchdogs all over the world. For example, the Swedish travel giant Apollo once advertised trips to Northern Cypriots to hotels in the Kyrenia region, but had to back down after being threatened with massive lawsuits by Greek Cypriots and it would possily adventure the continiued activity by this travel company in Southern Cyprus if they were to go ahead with this plan. Northern Cyprus will remain a very calm and laid back destination for forseeable future.

Without doubt the most beautiful part of the island with all those castles! Looking forward to more videos from this little country, Northern Cyprus. Never before has there been a series of videos exploring Northern Cyprus in this way, all other videos by high profile travel vloggers focuses mainly on politics rather than the sites, history and culture of the country, and usually from a biased and strongly anti-Turkish perspective. You have to check out the walled Old Town of Famagusta, truly amazing with all those mosques and churches.

Good Lord. Do you also consider it as "biased" when Jewish people describe Hitler's holocaust?

Please don't call it "northern" Cyprus. It's illegally occupied Cyprus. For 50 years since 1974. Thank you 🙏

@@gerrytran Achaeans were colonizing Cyprus from 1210 to 1000 BC. Dorian Greeks arrived around 1100 BC and, unlike the pattern on the Greek mainland, the evidence suggests that they settled on Cyprus peacefully.The first wave consisted of Mycenaean Greek traders, who started visiting Cyprus around 1400 BC. A major wave of Greek settlement is believed to have taken place following the Late Bronze Age collapse of Mycenaean Greece from 1100 to 1050 BC, with the island's predominantly Greek character dating from this period.

I think the angels or vigilants build on the too of mountains because they knew GOD will send the flood to destroy them, after they, the angels, have children with the daughters of humans...The children of angels were the warriors. "God order them to battle between them until the kill each other", as is written on the Book of Enock.
