The problem is 100% the roof box. If yours has a tow bar look into a tow bar mounted bike rack with a storage box instead

My journey to France is about 640 miles - in one day. Diesel 7 seater - with roof box 45mpg, without on the same journey is 58mpg. No longer use roof box 😂

why arent you using a A Better Route Planner ? A tesla Model Y also would have had a far better range for long journeys. But yea probably best for a journey like this to use a Diesel. The Eqb has pretty bad range tbh.
