Yeah, when it comes to the east coast I'm personally not a fan of anything north of Indian River County. I tend to put Sebastian as my northernmost line of where I like being on the east coast. With the exception of a few coastal cities like New Smryna, Flagler Beach, and of course the famous St Augustine, a majority of the way from Melbourne to Jacksonville is just kinda run down in my opinion.

Spent last weekend in Cocoa. Hit the beach and went to Kenedy Space Center. What I noticed is that it seemed it had the potential to be a great tourist city but at some point in history they stopped putting money into it.

Those apartments used to be the Ramada Hotel. With Hill Top being one of the most desired places (back in the day lol) for office spaces. Next time your in Brefart head to North Merritt Island off State Road 3 before you hit NASA turn left on Tropical trail then explore Colony Park. You thought Daytona Pines was awful. I lived there in the rentals all the way in the back for over 20 years. Yup it was awful but my place at the time was nice and I was back in the back by the woods. It was all I could afford as a single mom. Shootings, assaults, arson all the norm. Brevard county is garbage 🗑️ now. Didn't used to be when I grew up here. It was exciting then. NASA was in it's hey day, Disney wasn't too far away, the beaches were fun. A long time ago.

I don't like Cocoa either. I also get a sad almost depressing kinda feeling everytime I go over there, which is not something I often say about the entire state. Unless if I'm going over to the islands, I usually try to avoid going up there as much as I can. The only nice section of that city is downtown, which is pretty, but that's about it. 520 and US-1 here are just devoid of any big businesses or even shopping and restaurants. The major roads here are just empty and miserable looking. It's ashame because Cocoa was once a great city. Nowadays though it's the epicenter for crime and drug usage's in the entire county.

Thank you for taking us along for the ride. I love rides like that through the lesser touristy areas of Florida. Cocoa looks like a regular town. I was there the first of April, coming off the Disney Wish, and we drove the rural highway from Port Canaveral to Orlando. I love drives like that and I love the videos like this where you just drive. If you're wanting a different vehicle, consider the Ford Edge. My wife has one, it rides smooth, gets good gas mileage, and is very comfortable.

I was just there last month. There is nothing out there unless you go to the Beach. COVID is still hurting our economy there are plenty of business that closed and the the one that is open they cut the hours or they closed early

That crosswalk over the road was built for the children to cross over to the elementary school located on the east side . The road you were on gets extremely busy. You lucked out at a time of day that was slow .

Cocoa beach area is pretty run down, ever since the 2006-2008 collapse the stretch from satellite, to Daytona area never came back, most of the people who owned hotels took there money and ran, that's why Daytona is just run down, it will never come back. Most of the East coast will never come back, Patrick AFB use to be hopping but not no more ever since NASA left it's been dead. It's a sad reality because things use to be booming over yonder but not anymore, I personally enjoy the east coast better than gulf coast, it's too populated in Tampa and south, just too much and it's overrated in my opinion. Fort Pierce is kind of derelict but I enjoy that small town, new Smyrna, nice video, great seeing u trek around the state , always interesting seeing things here in the state, stay safe as always and look forward to upcoming videos

HAHAHAHAHAHA! You drove North right up US 1, while over to the West just a few miles was a thriving and new shopping and entertainment area. Juts a few miles to your East was Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Port Canaveral with its cruise ships and submarines, and the Kennedy Space Center with its visitor's center. And a mere few hundred feet to the East is Cocoa Village, with its shops, restaurants and old fashioned charm. What you did was the same as driving down I-40 through New Mexico and then concluding that the Grand Canyon was no big deal, when you never even got close to it.

There is a lot going on in terms of industry here. Lots of DoD activity, scattered manufacturing due to the low taxes. There is widespread poverty for generational locals. A lot of businesses closed down in the Obama era and everything basically went to shit around then. Came back a little under Trump but the only thing saving it now is the gentrification due to people fleeing blue states. Problem with that is the small town charm is gone now. Too much traffic. At least the festering ghettoes will eventually be priced out of existence.

Coastal Florida was always the tourist things central was farming north Florida was considered to be south Georgia until recently by locals sure there was a few town's that flourished from the tourism since the 80's decade or so it flipps homeless population is bad for ever northern states sent their homeless population south before big freezing weather
