Driving around in a 1975 Austin Allegro

Took my little 1975 MK1 Allegro 1098cc on a little spin around the block! 😁👍🚗🚗🚗
I highly recommend setting the quality to 1080HD for a clearer image and sound!
For those who appreciate and love the Austin/BMC/Morris legendary A series 4 speed gearbox whine, crank up your volume!

@@DanLTjoe I don’t have the stereo/cd player on either, I prefer to listen to how the car sounds, I have a a 97 Rover 200 and a 06 plate Renault Scenic, and neither sound boring whilst driving. But yours is a symphony of Sound!

No it wasn't. I used to drive an Allegro 1500 as well as a Peugeot 204 in the late 70s. You'd take the Peugeot every time believe me. Even with less power it was a far nicer car and much better made.

Always remember the whine you use to get from those a series engine's. Never hear that noise nowadays! Brings it back!

Small Peugeot /Citroens have a gearbox whine that dates their engine design back to the 104 and I heard one if those small Renault SUV's recently before I saw it, with an engine sound that could only gave come from it's seventies roots

O aye remember the first one they got on the farm in 1972. And from childhood remember the certain noises from the gears and the indicators. As what they had before had no radio.hester or flashes. Just old stick out trafficators . The allegro was the first decent comfortable car we had ever had. Always remember it man832a.

Exactly like dad’s 1100 Deluxe we had in the early 90’s. Was brown but repainted blue before we bought it. OLE 306P.

The engine was robut and could handle everything you asked of it. Just the brakes...spongy, never felt safe either lol

@shnd77 really interesting stuff I never realised that ! I once owned a Mini traveler and always found the sound of the gearbox comforting 🤷🏻‍♂️ no idea why. I own a Riley RMA and it also has a distinctive sound too .

What makes you say that? Is it because these cars are known to many as an All Agro? Mines certainly not one of those, it never breaks down on me 👍 Very reliable A series engine in 1098cc form,exact same as a classic Mini engine, no one ever say a mini breaks down. Not long done a really good long run in this Allegro, 280 miles covered in one day no bother. Key is good maintenance! Any all Agro is a crap example from back in the day that clearly was not looked after. Not having a dig... Just irritated why so many people assume all Allegro’s are rubbish unreliable and break down! 😒😒😒😒😒😒😒
