I found out about this town when I was scrolling through a list of US cities with the highest population growth rates and 'Kiryas Joel' showed up. I was a bit surprised as to why an Israeli-sounding city was located in New York State, but upon closer research, I was fascinated. I literally never heard of this town until a few days ago, which is a bit shocking considering that it has the highest poverty rate in the entire country. I wonder what life is like in there.

Seeing their life from the outside is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Almost every building is written in their language, the town name Monroe has changed to Kiryas Joel, they blast an Israeli anthem or something everyday at night, sometimes twice which u can hear miles away in your own living room. Driving there you risk getting into an accident every 5 seconds bc they are very aggressive drivers. They ride yellow school buses as public transportation for adult men. They have SO many apartments and buying nearby neighborhoods in cash. At the end of the anthem an ambulance alarm sounds, idk why. I worked with them as an emergency responder and one parademic told us that he thinks it’s fair for the women to hold no jobs, education, shave their head or wear wigs forever, just stay at home and birth many kids. They dont pay tax bc they claim their house is a sacred prayer place, which no Muslim would ever be allowed to make the same argument for of course, bc no one should be getting that fake right anyway. Difficult & rude customers. I could go on, but a lot of ppl are moving out of Monroe for this reason. I have never seen or heard of any sign of poverty like high rate of criminals or drugs or etc. Nothing poor about living in a giant community of your own home away from home in tax-free new buildings, schools, hospitals, markets, etc all in your own language and laws, people and culture, nothing poor that they are constantly buying out our half a million dollar homes ;-;

If an islamic neighborhood did that here guess who’s gonna call it terrorism (even tho there’s no violence). This is clearly massive privilege and law-approved manipulation

the reson its the highest Poverty rate is not because household are earning less then the average American its because of the high birth rate so you have a much higher % of the population under 18 years old not working wich brings down the whole rate

I don't understand how they could have the highest poverty rate in the Country, looking in from the outside, it seems people are living well, and in the Jewish community people usually help each other. I don't see any homelessness or drug addicts on every corner. It looks to be a beautiful place to live, also never heard of it before, Frieda Vizel put it on the map for me.
@jeffvanderwerf3391 Жыл бұрын
Poverty rate is calculated by, among other things, average income levels and the percentage of residents living below the poverty line. There are many people living below the poverty line here (in terms of official earnings). However, that does not necessarily mean they are poor or destitute in the way that people might think of poor and destitute. I do not know the exact dynamics of this town's economy, but one can speculate that the closeness of the community ensures that even those with low incomes do not face homelessness and abject poverty as in other places.

As for ANY slumlord, regardless of political or religious affiliation - I wonder what their bank account represents v the run-down rentals and property upkeep represented in this (and other) videos. Undoubtedly, those renting in these apartment blocks are charged high rent in contrast to the conditions. The fences falling down, the garbage flowing out from trash bins, the poor quality of 'city' services evidenced in actual photographs of non-maintained sidewalks and infrastructure within the 'village'. Whose bank account has the highest value? The overlord rabbi? The town mayor, who has never been opposed in re-election? The City Council? How many taxpayer dollars, both State of NY and Federal, are siphoned into this 'village'? Graft, corruption, non-effective oversight in lieu of promise of block votes for State politicians - this is a cult, no different than Scientology or other religious pretensions of legitimate, and presumed legal, prohibition against any questioning legal grounds for the existence of the organization in the first place. Care less that this community is Jewish, nor which sect it identifies with - for all I care, they could be worshiping the growth of dandelions. They are a cult.
