Wondering how the slump gauge on the truck works?
@shon9kemp2 жыл бұрын
Works off the hydraulic oil pressure of the pump and the drum drive. The wetter it is. The less oil pressure it takes to turn it. On my front dump. A 1,000 psi on my gauge is about a 5-6 inch slump. 2,000- 2,400 is a 0-1 inch slump for curb mix
@danielhayes7352 жыл бұрын
Pretty much in simplest way, it gauges the resistance required to turn a drum. Think of it this way. It’s easier to turn a drum of water than sand and rock. Easier the turn the lower the gauge number

A seasoned concrete truck driver can mix the perfect transit batch then add the perfect amount at the jobsite. The goal is 100% perfect mix every time. It's not humanly possible but if you take pride in your work you aim high. Truck looks like it's right off the factory floor and you got that positive, professional demeanor on the site. Them tips be piling up. Your truck looks real old but in excellent condition. Unfortunately it's stick. I'll take automatic amy day. You just brake sooner

How physically demanding is this job? there is a lot of lifting and climbing involved with the job correct? you have to climb up the ladder and wash the inside of the drum after you get loaded each time you have to hang the chutes on the back when you get to your job, 2-3 chutes depending what your truck carries? when you’re finished at the job you have to climb back up and wash the drum down again and wash the chutes clean of concrete then rehang the chutes on the chute holders then there is additional climbing up the ladder to add calcium chloride , color or fibers it the job calls for it So how hard do those aspects make the job?
@y.b.m.a33932 жыл бұрын
Not hard at all bro, those are all valid things that come with thr routine washing down after every job is easy and you won't always use chutes so you'll be hanging them up half the time but other then that it's easy that's my take on it👍

I Drove A Garbage Truck For Almost 16 Years & Was Going Thru A Divorce So For Some Strange Reason That I Can't Explain, Somehow I Figured Since My Home Life Is Gonna Be Totally Different, I May As Well Make A Career Change So I Put In My 2 Week Notice The Day After My Divorce Was Finalized & Saw That One Of The Local Concrete Companies Was Hiring So I Applied & Got Hired On The Spot & That First Couple Weeks To A Month Had Me Re-Thinking My Life Choices!!! Lol. It Took Me A While To Get Use To Not Knowing Until Late Evening To Find Out What My Start Time Would Be For The Following Day As Every Day Is Different But I Would Have To Wait To Getta Text Message To See What Time I Had To Be At Work In The Morning & Once I Was There, I Never Knew What Time I Would Be Getting Off At The End Of The Day...(Still Dont) LOL ButI m Use To It Now So Its Notta Big Deal & The Other Big Issue I Had Was 99% Of Contractors & They're Crew Are Fukking Assholes!!! I Was "Trained" & Let Loose On My Own In 4 Days & Was Put In A Shitty Old-Ass Truck So My First Couple Months Were Pretty Ruff & I Got Tired Real Quick With These Contractors Thinking That It Was Okay To Talk To Me Any Kinda Way & Cuss & Talk Down To Me Because My Pouring "Skills" Weren't That Good But I Honestly Wasnt Really Trained But Ive Pulled My Parking Brake Plenty Of Times & Jumped Out & Walked To The Back Of The Truck & Told Quite A Few Of Them Concrete Finishers That I'm Not That Guy They Can Talk To Like That & I'm Not Gonna Tolerate Being Talked To Like I'm A Fukking Child So They Need To Calm Down Because Everytime They're Back There Yelling & Talking Shit, All That Is Doing Is Pissing Me Off & Making Me More Nervous & Mess Up Even More & Ever Since I Stood Up To All Them Assholes, We Have Been Good Ever Since & Im Actually Good Friends With A Lot Of Them Now, But The More Time I Had On The Job, The More Comfortable I Got Behind The Wheel & The Better I Got At Pouring & I've Been Told Many Times By Different Contractors That I'm Actually A Better Driver Than A Lotta Guys Who Have Been Pouring Mudd For 20+ Years & I'm Not Bragging, Just Stating That I Got Better With Time. Also I Gotta Put Out There That I've Seen All Of These Same Guys Talk Down To Every New Driver I've Seen Come & Go Over The Past 5 Years & I'm Not Quite Sure Why Concrete Guys Are Dicks, They Just Are Until You Prove To Them That You're A Good Driver. How Was Your First Week Ina Mixxer??? Do You Like It?? Can You See What I'm Talking About With The Contractors Being Jerks?? Lol. I Hope You Like It Because Being A Mixxer Driver Is Pretty Fun & Every Job Is Different & There Is A Sense Of Pride Where One Day You Show Up To A Jobsite & Its Literally Just An Open Field With Footings Framed Out & A Few Months Later There Is A Brand New Hilton Suites Hotel Sitting There Or A New YMCA With A Bad-Ass Swimming Pool & Aquatic Center With Crazy Water Slides That Literally Start Inside The Building & It Loops Around A Few Times Outside Of The Building & Ends-Up Going Back Inside Of The Building Where The Bottom Of The Slide Drops The Kiddos Into The In-Door Pool...Plus The Money Is Pretty Decent & Prevailing Wage Is The Shit!!!
