Here, by comparison, is my Aussie host and buddy Phil Mackay taking a turn at the wheel of the Dee Decker Tours Leyland Atlantean.
Phil has a Sydney Leyland Leopard of basically very similar cab/controls and consequently I was very impressed with his excellent gear changes :) Being a 'regular' bus driver, you can tell a few differences, such as how he goes around corners!

When I drove mk2 Leyland Leopards for STA Sydney I found the best way to change down was not throttle off then blip the throttle but rather to just hold the throttle, allow the revs to pick up through neutral then drop the selector into the gear required. It becomes intuitive after a while, the speedo becomes irrelevant as you're relying on engine note to match road speed. Theoretically the pneumocyclic trains should virtually last indefinitely if driven correctly.

Yes bit heavy on the shifter..my favorite is the leopard mrk 1,it's a shame we don't have any in Queensland anymore...Also I'm after a 4speed pneumatic shifter to suit a 1957 Leyland tiger world master could anyone please help thanks...

Unusual changing technique but very smooth for a direct air change

Stilted driving, he'd get exhausted quickly doing a shift. At least he doesn't abuse the bus mechanically, except perhaps the shifter lol.

Should use push and pull steering technique

Accidentally came across this video which is very good but exhausting to watch... I have never seen a steering technique quite like it and he would not pass any passenger service vehicle examination in the UK! But I'm guessing this was a test drive around the block, so to speak.

I was thinking the same, he seemed to be doing battle with the gear shift and steering. If that had been in service in an 8 hour shift he'd be knackered after 3. Love the sound of the bus, very healthy and the padded cab! UK bus drivers would have felt like kings lol

Seemed to have very comprehensive instrumentation for an Atlantean.

A bit hasty gear switching, will improve no doubt. This type of gearbox allows silky gear changes if treated with care, ues, even better than full automatic gear boxes. But you have to know how......if not, do not drive them. If handled properly these semi automatic gear boxes will last a bus life long.

You have to start from the beginning with driving, you cant say if you dont know how dont drive that's just a stupid comment

It's a Leyland/Self Changing Gears semi-auto. This one sounds air operated, though some of them are electrically operated.

Even allowing for the pause in N, the way he’s holding and moving the gear lever is all wrong and clumsy. Cackhanded even.

Some critical comments but my youth was a world of Leopards and Gardner engined Tigers and the drivers had no finesse whatsoever.

Is there a quick release valve on that air change - UK ones you have to wait for it a bit longer in neutral or they object. Nice gear work. Love the padded cab !
