St augustine is it a good place to live and are the things are expensive

Wow! I had no idea the city was so Spanish. I used to live in Spain. Those narrow, cobblestone streets, the balconies and arches in the architecture and all the palms make it seem like aliens beamed up an old Spanish city and plunked it down in Florida. There are even Spanish forts! That so many of the buildings are flying the colors of the Spanish flag make its roots even more apparent. They’ve done an amazing job preserving the original Spanish flavor of the city. So glad they didn’t cover it with skyscrapers.

More spanish flags than in Catalonia. People usually tells bad spanish history to other people, but we must be more proud of our history than much other countries. Viva España! Viva USA!

Like many southern states in the USA such as California, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia, there are also many species of palm trees grown in Florida. Many tropical trees such as palm, banana, coconut, Epipremnum aureum and many more are grown in St. Augustine. The subtropical or tropical climate of this area makes the flora here abundant. Many houses, buildings, and churches have louver-style brown wooden windows, balconies, and fences. The city has much influenced by the architecture of the Spanish and European colonial period in the 19th and early 20th century. Both of the federal and state flags are often flying outside the buildings. The Florida state flag has two red and yellow colors (like the Spanish flag). Overall, in my opinion, the city of St. Augustine is clean, quiet and ancient. However, roads and pavements for pedestrians of the city seem narrow.

I am so happy that I found this video! I have never been to St. Augustine. I am going to be 71 in August and my friend and I are planning a trip in early November. And our names are not Thelma and Louise!! But that is what we call ourselves because we just take off! I am so looking forward to this trip, coming from south of NOLA, we will spend the night in Destin, then head on to St Aug for a week.

This city was founded by Spanish colonists and under Spanish control for over 300 years until British gained it in late 1700s and held it until Spanish regained it in early 1800s then USA gained it in early 1800s with purchase treaty

+J Utah BEAUTIFUL. I'm from the Boston area, and while I love summertime in New England, winters are becoming too much (not a novel concept, I know). But, I'm looking at wintering in the St Augustine area, and judging by the beautiful architecture, the history, etc., this looks like the place for me (sooooo not looking for a place like Miami). The one question I had: Are there a few camp grounds in the area? I'm assuming so, but wondered if you have any suggestions or know of the quality/reputation of some in the area? Thanks.

Great job on the video! My son lives there and we have been visiting St.A. for a week at a time for the past 30+ years . It really is a tremendous place with a million things to see and do. I don’t know what time of the year this was, but I have never see the city with so few people and cars although I’m sure today with the COVID situation it is even emptier. If you haven’t visited St. A. you owe it to yourself to go (when the coast is clear re: the virus). You won’t be disappointed and while you’re there, don’t forget to visit Hazel’s Hotdogs (hint - it’s not downtown. Go exploring and find it).

It was white with a red cross. Florida's current state flag is modeled after the old Spanish flag. There are many Hispanics and a few Spaniards here and there, but they're kind of reclusive. They just keep to themselves mostly.

@Hideaway9048 жыл бұрын
+. There are homeless people there. Well, not homeless people in the traditional sense. These are mostly 20 and 30 somethings that appear to be homeless. They kinda just hang around up and down St.George St. and lay in the grass at Plaza de la Constitucion. I spend every chance I get in St. Augustine (3-4 times a month) and they have never bothered me or asked for money. I just don't like seeing them just hanging around. It kinda takes away from the atmosphere. But I guess they got to be somewhere.

To date, the Spanish occupied St Augustine longer than other other nation. The reason for all the flags and banners though is St Augustine had just had a huge 450th celebration. The king and queen of Spain came to visit for the festivities.
