12 hours is enough for any driver Rod, Digi cards are the thing now in the U.K. and Europe. I’m retired now Rod but I’ve used the logbook and the Tachograph, I never applied for the Digi card, I notice some of your reply’s are men trying to get trucking jobs, there is a massive shortage in the U.K., wages are not the best and the job seems to be falling apart, I remember comradeship years ago, helping other drivers to rope and sheet and various other things, now a days not many people will stop and help you, and I can understand why they don’t. Most companies now want you to run to the maximum hours and in the U.K. there isn’t enough truck-stops or parking facilities for drivers. I miss the job Rod but I’m so so glad that I’m retired now. Hope you and the wife are both well. Kind regards from Scotland Johnny

G'day Rod. I find it incredible how strict you drivers are governed although people who work in the service and maintenance side of the industry can pull 16+ hour days and get called out through the night without question. Even under chain of responsibility we are not monitored. As long as the product is getting out the door and onto a truck is all that matters. Cheers mate.

Maybe they should change it the the chain of deniability. "We know nothing" There are still trucking companies that still get away with things. Have a good day.

Theres an APP that you can download and pay $10 a month for (yearly is cheaper) and its basically a digital log book that helps make sure your filling it out correctly and taking breaks at the correct times. It has no legal standing but may help some avoid a fine for basic errors

Hey mate love this video as I already know about this as my dads a trucker here in tassie, but it’s good to hear someone else’s perspective on it, next can you walk around your rig and show use it or show use how you wash it

Hey Buddy. Have done a truck video before. The next one will be the differences between the one now and the last. As for washing, I'm lucky, we have a lovely female truck washer that does that for us. Just clean the widows and wash the bugs off the front. And keep the interior clean.

Well mate I'm off the road now but I still have a brother driving. Problem is half the cops can't understand and they sometimes book drivers wrongly and the driver has to go through all sorts to get it overturned. I'm 75 now and it's nothing like old school with all the cameras and different rules. Now my brother will start a trip.. drive 12 hours (with breaks) then sleep for 12 before he'll move. Don't know about 7 hour breaks etc., anyway mate.. Cheers 🥂

@australiantruckerrod1070
@australiantruckerrod1070 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul. I got my one from the old cafe at Tarcutta about 8 years ago $75 At the time. There is a site on the internet call truckies log book covers, I believe about $150 to $180. I looked into getting some made from I guy that makes leather products. If I had some orders could go see him to get some made, with custom logos. Only thing is, if electronic logs come it they will not be needed.

Hey Rod! Question for you. On standard hours from the time you Bundy on to Bundy off can be 13 hours total including breaks? (12 work + 2× 15min and 1x30min breaks) Is that correct?
@australiantruckerrod1070
@australiantruckerrod1070 6 жыл бұрын
Yes it would be 13 hours in total, you are right. How you have your breaks can verify but must have that hour in the 12hr period.

Once you're on a BFM cycle, you have to keep filling out diary entries until you change back to Standard Hours; which requires a 48hr reset break.

Hello. Sorry for the late reply. Just need to go to a driving school. Start with a heavy ridged licence. Have that for one year before moving up. Heavy ridged licence appox $1000 for a one or two day couse.

In 11 hours on the road needing breaks and considering roadworks and also the time to change trailers and possibly wait for your partner coming up from Victoria, bugger me if I'm done in 12 hours on a changeover Sydney-Tarcutta-Sydney. Leave at night and you're still coming back through peak traffic on your return leg back to Sydney. How stupid that an online course gives your the supposedly superhuman ability to work 16 or 14 hours instead of 12. And having a camera stare you in the face without any choice in the matter is something that makes a job miserable along with being told off for how fast you went in places overnight. Too much surveillance and it only gets more not less. Good on you for surviving the regulation with some cheerfulness and a license. I'd just like to close with saying a big fuck off to spammed calls and text messages at 2am to get me to remove the obstruction in front of the driver-facing camera. That felt good and thanks to everyone for listening.

@australiantruckerrod1070

Hi. After you have a car licence for 12 months you can apply for a heavy ridged licence, than having held the heavy ridged for 12 months you can get a multi combination licence. The hardest part is finding a job and getting experience.

Have driven the 401 at Rehe & Son a long time ago. Great trucks loved them. I think only the big companies will go electric, and only for local trucks. You would have to have a fake jake break noise to make it sound cool. LOL. Make sure that your dad keeps that truck for you. I'm jealous.
