Driving in Austria: Tauern Autobahn A10 E55 from Altenmarkt im Pongau to St. Michael im Lungau

In this video you can drive along on the Tauern Autobahn A10 E55 from Altenmarkt im Pongau to St. Michael im Lungau. The Tauern Autobahn is one of the most scenic Autobahns in Austria, cutting straight through the Alps from Salzburg in the North to Villach in the South.
This video features the Autobahn from Altenmarkt to St. Michael, an especially scenic stretch. I've stayed in Altenmarkt a couple of times in the past and it's a really nice area for exploring the Alps in both summer and wintertime. Schladming is a nearby well-known ski destination nearby. But there are more, like Flachau and Zauchensee.
In the future I will feature more of this beautiful Autobahn, so stay tuned!

A beautiful motorway, you are in the mountains for 180 km between Salzburg and Villach, the motorway reaching also a relatively high altitude for european standards, over 1300m at Tauer Tunnel. Drove it a couple of times, always enjoyed it. Thanks for the video, greetings from a roadtripper from Germany!

Yes I'm not sure but I read some things online about it and just wanted to make sure. The privacy laws in Austria and Germany are very strict.

Nice video. Especially the views just before entering the Taurn Tunnel. Maybe put a warning about the quick flickering when you speed up the passage through the tunnel? It looks like early Christmas. Only joking :) But what's all the fuss with those ugly grey concrete (?) sound barriers. It looks like a bad version of the 'Iron Curtain' although the Berlin wall looked nicer .... Did Austria get some millions EU subsidy money to completely ruin the views on this autobahn. Seriously? Some stretches have walls on both sides AND on the central median for kilometers on end? You would expect this for large densely build-up urban areas. But I can only imagine a couple of houses behind each long wall? It looks terrible.

Ah sorry, I wasn't aware of the annoying sound, I see what you mean. Yes no clue what's up with those barriers, then again they also lower the speed limit in these areas to keep the air 'clean'. I guess it's about reducing the impact of the Autobahn on idyllic surroundings but yea, it sadly goes at the cost of the views from the Autobahn itself.
