Driving in Spain: Autovía A8 E70 from Santander to Bilbao

In this video you can ride along on Autovía A8 E70 from Santander (S-10) to Bilbao (AP-8). Following the rugged Atlantic sea coast, the A8 connects the two largest cities of Basque Country in the North of Spain.
Unfortunately I didn't have the time to visit Santander, but I heard good things about it. I spent a few days in Bilbao, which is a beautiful city. It's especially interesting to those who like architecture.
The A8 has a quite curvy alignment between both cities as passes through quite a mountainous area. I like how green everything looks, mainly thanks to a micro-climate that makes this area quite wet from time to time compared to most other areas of Spain. From Bilbao there is the AP-8 toll road which bypasses the city through a series of tunnels. Unfortunately I didn't get to drive it. The A8 stills runs in parallel to the AP8 for a while until it merges with the AP8 East of Bilbao. The AP8 from Bilbao to the border with France is not tolled, I believe just the bypass is.

I remember myself driving on this AUTOVIA by the time I lived in Spain! Very rugged terrain but the road is very scenic !

Spectacular and rugged terrain, even in rainy conditions impressive. At 3:00 the weaving lane was a little too short? Or Spanish temperament? And the first tunnel only appeared at 10:00 into the drive ....

The lane wasn't necessarily too short. The white car was hugging the middle lane and being a lazy driver. He had no business being there, especially if the alignment narrows down. When I was next to him he didn't feel like slowing down either to give me space, despite him being in the wrong lane in the first place. Unfortunately I found middle lane hugging to be even worse in Spain than in France or Germany.

@@a.s.v4261 It's not about who entered first. He has no business being in the middle lane at this point. In Germany it's called 'Rechtsfahrgebot' and as far as I know this is pretty universal throughout Europe. You don't drive unnecessarily in the left or middle lane when the right lane is free and you are not overtaking. It's simply bad and lazy driving.
