This is 1951. The vehicles have '51 California plates, without the metal tabs used in 1952.

That's heading West on Wilshire Blvd. One can see the La Brea tarpits on the left side of the screen around the 2.15 of the video and eventually passing the old May Co. building on the corner of Wilshire and Fairfax.

Americas peak was mid late 50s to early 60s. Glad I got to experience some of it before American degradation in the late 70s to the current massive sh1thole we have now.

@@matrox Back in the 1950s lifespans were shorter (much of it due to nearly half the country smoking cigarettes), polio was a disease that still had no vaccine to protect against, you were nearly twice as likely to die in an automobile accident than today and if you were non-white, well expect your share of racial discrimination especially when traveling.
