I was born in L.A. in the mid 80s and raised in there. I was too young to experience Hollywood during this time. Now it's a bunch of tourists, restaurants, bars, retail stores, smoke shops and police everywhere. I heard Hollywood was dangerous and seedy during the 80s. Hookers, drug dealers, criminals and junkies walking about. It's cleaned up a lot since, but it's become a bougie with it's expensive bars and restaurants and a lot of tourists walk around taking selfies and group photos. In becoming a lot safer to walk around, it seems it also became more boring.

@@Cyrus992 It's very simple since the 70s, HPS (High Pressure Sodium) lamps appeared. They are more economical than Mercury lamps that appeared in the 30s/40s, so they gradually became widespread over the following decades and ended up completely replacing Mercury lamps, with a much higher light intensity at an equal Watt power, which allows the use of HPS lamps with a lower Watt power. for example a 100w HPS lamp has a higher light intensity than a 250w Mercury,, the same for a 250w HPS lamp compared to a 400w Mercury.
