That Sport Fury is so sweet. I had one that belonged to my grandma. 1968, 40k original miles, 383, 2 door, bucket seats. 100 foot tall fir tree fell on it during the storms in NorCal in 1995 when I was 15, just before I got my drivers license. Completely crushed it, and my heart too😢

You guys are living the life. My brothers and I have been planning something like that since we were teens (now 38, 40,42), but we always have distractions and deterrents, or the cars are down. We need to make it happen. What's the engine, trans, and rear gear on each Mopar?
@BryceCold
@BryceCold 6 ай бұрын
Yeah the best way to prepare for a trip like that is to literally just book the trip like 6 months in advance, and that'll force you to get your cars and affairs in order. My 70 Coronet has a 6.1L gen 3 Hemi with a Dodge Viper T56 6-speed manual and an 8 3/4 rear end with 3.73 gears. Wyatt's orange 69 Roadrunner has a 512 cui. stroked big block making 650 horsepower with a tkx 5-speed manual transmission and a lightweight built Ford 9-inch with 3.73 gears as well. Alex's 68 Plymouth Sport Fury has the factory 383 and 727 auto transmission, 8 3/4 rear end with 2.76 Highway gears.
@xmo552
@xmo552 6 ай бұрын
@@BryceCold Your Coronet must've won the MPG stats.... Followed by the Sport Fury and then the Roadrunner. My backup hauler is a 100% stock 1981 GMC c3500 reg cab long bed 2x4 350/400/4.56:1. It has zero emissions from the factory due to GVW. She's a heavy pig because of a Tommy Gate and diamond plate floor. I think she weighs 6500 or 6800 I forget. I want to build it like a Power Tour car. Plan A is a boosted small block. Plan B is a N/A small block; my best friend builds them for truck/sled pulls. Plan B is forget all the drama and just install a spare Cummins I have that I know it'll do everything I want. 325 hp, 600 tq, and 18-20 MPG all day easy. I just feel guilty about ditching the small block. Plan A and B include a Gear Vendor or 4L80E... and regear to 4.10 or 3.73:1. The goals are: low rpm tow motor, reliable, torque, and MPG.
@YJLennon707
@YJLennon707 6 ай бұрын
@@xmo552the road runner actually averaged 16.5 mpgs with a best of 17.5 between a couple stops. The fury got 10😂
@xmo552
@xmo552 6 ай бұрын
@@YJLennon707 Dang that's impressive. I ran the numbers on the available 5th gears x 3.73 and considering a massive engine and no aero.... That's awesome MPG. In high school I had a slammed 78 Cutlass with a swapped in 403, 200-4r, and I kept the 2.56:1 in back. That thing would fry tires, accelerate hard, and had a crazy top end. The Olds engine isn't a high rpm machine but with all that gearing, it never broke a sweat and it got 18ish mpg. I imagine the Roadrunner has a similar formula. Big torque and the engine is almost idling. Just for reference: My stock 88 Comanche 4.0L, 5 speed, and 3.08 doesn't get 18. 16 maybe maaaaaybe and she's tuned perfecto.

Anyone can easily drive across the country in a new car where they don't have to worry about anything but gas.

@@johndillinger8482 not bullshit. Genuine question. If it’s not as big a deal as you say then why don’t you go out and buy a 50+ year old car, rewire it yourself, build a 700hp big block for it by yourself, swap in a manual transmission in place of the automatic by yourself, rebuild the entire suspension and braking system by yourself, redo the cars interior and install a killer stereo system by yourself, and then go drive it 6000+ miles across the country. Making side money on KZbin helps in a lot of ways, and it's fun making videos, but that's not why I film stuff. Did it ever occur to you that maybe I also film my trips and car stuff for my friends, family members, and other non salty people who actually want to watch entertaining car guys do fun things in cars? Also, I'm pretty sure your Dad's friend doesn't need his friend's envious son fighting his non-existent battles. He would probably tell you to shut your mouth, quit involving him on random people's comment sections, and get off the internet.
