Love the vid..true passion. Just traded a wonderful 996 Turbo for a V8 manual...I was worried I'd made a grave error for a while..but no...the R8 is by far a better drivers car. As for don't meet your heroes..once did a 9 hour round trip to buy an Elise...broke my heart..nothing more than a bloody kit car once you take the badge off

Thank you! That is so interesting, I would have thought that you'd say the 996 was the better driver. I've not had much experience with 911's, would love to have a drive in one., Oh dear! Again, I've never driven a Lotus. Did you go for the 996 instead of the Elise?

@@macswhips Hi..no there was a bit of a gap in between the nearly Elise purchase and Turbo…..My wife has a 981 Boxster S and this is my enjoyable to drive than the Turbo….I think I’m just not a 911kind of guy,..I had a 997 for just under 12 months previously which I traded for the 981…

My old man bought the 2012 V8 Le Mans limited edition in a manual. Only 100 came to the UK but auto won’t release how many of them were R-Tronic and how many were the manual, we can find out though that out of the total 100 on 60 ish were sold, no idea what happened to the others. Currently there are only 25 on the UK roads mainly the R-Tronic and maybe 5 manual. A great investment with all the optional extras like carbon pack etc

@@macswhips Yeah he still has it as an investment, no the others just weren’t sold so may have been shipped abroad. Have got videos and photos of it but can’t post them on here

I have a V10 manual in my collection and thinking of upgrading but the v10 engine is one of the best 😍 , hardly run it with only 6k on the clock 😳

Amazing! What is the potential upgrade? That is such low mileage, is it an investment piece? If so, surely hang onto it for another 10 years!

@@macswhips who knows where prices are going especially with EV’s coming onto the market quickly , is it going to be looked upon as a dinosaur. I thought about changing it for a Mercedes amg ctc but I’m thinking it could be a backward step , ohhhh to have has crystal ball 🔮

My son just bought a 2012 R8 manual with 30,000km on the clock, carbon fibre option and ceramic brakes. It sits in the garage next to his 2009 RS4. I'll be getting a ride in a few days if I can get into it (I'm 70!). Will I be able to get out?
