I'd like to say a big THANK YOU for this video, you saved me a huge amount of time and effort. I was wondering if it's possible for me to use this road to get closer to Mount Maxwell. Now I see that my car doesn't have a chance there.

You are very welcome. You may still get to within about 2.5 km of the main observation point in any vehicle, and then hike up - it's not a very steep road to hike on, with almost no traffic and a fine forest all around. If you haven't checked out the trip report yet, here it is www.ihikebc.com/trips/2024/trip307RimTrailMountMaxwellProvincialParkSaltSpringIslandBC.htm

Yup - It is a beautiful road above, and worth the hike. That said, we made it up top without too much fuss (MDX), and an Outback was there too (Aug-2024). Wonder if Municipality will repair it... that last spot is trickier than it looks - likely made worse by unsuccessful attempts to spin wheels through it.

Glad you enjoyed the trip! Indeed, the video doesn't quite convey the depth of the ditch. Plus, it's always a good idea to err on the side of caution, as it would really be unfortunate to damage your vehicle and (potentially) get stranded.
