I rolled into Brownfield about 11 pm a couple of years ago and got gas at the only open station. I asked the woman behind the counter if there was a place to park my truck and trailer for the night. She said just pull around back and park behind the station with the other trucks. Free, just buy a cup of coffee in the morning.

Another gas scam is when the pump says one thing and after you fill-up, the calculated price per gallon does not match what the pump says. You'll never know unless you do the math.

German here. When I visited the USA and Canada (some decades ago!) I was impressed how friendly people were. And flabbergasted that you had to pay gas first and pump it afterwards. In Germany you fill up and go then inside to pay. Tells you a bit about how much or less people are trusted. The USA was the shiny example to follow. I am afraid those times are over.

Where I live in SW Ohio they had too many people filling up and driving off. Three years ago they started pay first, then pump. Took me 3 times to get used to it.

In the State of New Jersey the gas station have attendant’s to pump your gas and you don’t tip.

I was in the upper peninsula of Michigan last year and you could actually pump your gas before paying. There were also fruit and vegetable stands set up with an honor pay system. Even a whole store called Jam Lady that you just take what you need and leave the money. Felt like the good old days. That’s the world I want to live in.

I like your attitude about life, Rusty. I'm not into the news either so I live in my own little world and watch and do things I like. Once I retired, I was FREE and could do anything I like. That makes me very happy. I can watch Rusty now if I want to and nobody bothers me.

We're in Stagecoach ( near Houston ).. Monday the local price was $2.74/gal for regular unleaded ..when I passed by Tuesday it was $3.19/gal .. today(Wednesday) it's $2.95/gal.. very goofy pricing 😇❤

I will not slide my debit card 💳 outside on a gas pump. I will go inside store, wait in line, and pay the cashier. I’m too afraid of what may or may not be attached to the gas pumps outside plus they want to put a hold on your account for so many days for the purchase. It’s crazy. I’ve had zero problems doing it this way❤

The indoor card scanners have card skimmers too. Often put in by the employees.

Just this morning, got a call from Visa, my credit card has been scammed again. Someone 3 states away has obtained my card number and went on a spending spree. I've done a few Ebay purchases lately, so somewhere along the way, someone took advantage and wrecked my credit card. In the process now of shutting it down, and getting a new card with a new account number. So disgusting, we've sunk so low as a society.

Rusty Coyotes do attack people and some die. When I was a kid I was surrounded by a pack of coyotes. I fought them off by throwing rocks at them. Here recently in Tombstone, AZ I have had packs follow me when I go walking.
