Thanks for bringing us along on your trip. I thought it was a beautiful and well produced video! I love that you went down the Big Sur coastal route, so pretty. From what I heard it sounds like you are running 7 Tesla modules for a a bit over 35 kWh capacity, running approximately 500 Wh/Mile over the Siskiyou pass including a net 1500 ft altitude gain. Not bad at all. If you happen to have other energy use numbers at certain speeds I'd be interested to hear them. Though, I'm already committed with my Vanagon battery setup so it won't change my plans, but it's fun to see how others are doing. :-)

I think your hotplate is either infrared or resistance. Induction is more efficient use of electricity. It cooks quickly heating just the pan.

Am I missing something? I am seeing an electric van with lots of solar but that is recharged from external sources. Where is the story?

Solar is too slow to recharge on a trip like this, would take weeks to get there.

This bus has at best a 5kW solar array - gets the battery(5*8modules) charged in about 8 hours - not of use when travelling longer distances

Awesome build! What did you overall weight of the bus turned out to be? What was the avg. speed which led you to approx. 70miles range? Thanks in advance
